*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand

This is really encouraging stuff from McKay just following along on cricinfo.

Admittedly I hadn't heard of him before this season's HRV cup.

Also it's against Bangladesh but it seems he is bowling some great balls that would trouble any batsman. Anyone watching it live give an indication of how he is going?
You simply can't tell, Bangladesh are so far below international standard, anyone can look great against them. Also, he looks just horrible at the point of delivery, his whole body falls away to the on side which one wouldn't think would do much for accuracy and control.

Reading the comments on cricinfo and comparing them to how McKay actually bowls is laughable.

But cricinfo are a bunch of chumps anyway.

The good looks pretty decent, has a top draw slow ball and seams to get reverse movement when bowling around the wicket. Oh yeah he seems pretty fit - bowls at consistent speed although he may have taken himself off the gas in this game in order to produce more accuracy. Still he is averaging 141 ish I would say.

He has been very accurate today, though, and has bowled cleverly. But his pace is significantly down on Napier.

9 overs 2 for 8 - guy has definite accuracy problems.

LOL at Bahnz. There is always a negative with NZ.
Just giving my honest opinion. It's easy to look threatening and accurate against Bangladesh. I'll be interested to see if he continues to look as good against Watson and Ponting in a month's time (that is if he's still in the team, what with Bond returning to fitness).

Anyway, Scalys here. I bet if he makes comment it will be on how we're letting the tail wag, which we are. Bring back Tuffeh to clean up these guys.

I have a comparative advantage in misery. It would be economically unsound for me to be anything but constantly verging on suicidal depression at the state of NZ cricket.

Mushfiqur has played such an awesome innings today. I bet he's pissed at the top order.

Felt sorry for the crowd watching Bangladesh struggle through the first half of their innings but some excellent hitting from Mushfiqur in particular, as well as Naeem and Shahadat, would leave them much more satisfied that theres at least a total on the board for New Zealand to chase. Incidentally they scored more runs off the last 10 overs than the first 40 (92 vs 91).

Ian Smith already proclaiming that New Zealand have it over Australia in the field
I wasn't so convinced about Smith making that statement. Australia's ground fielding is nothing to write off, I don't think Haddin's that bad a wicketkeeper and Cameron White's proven to be reliable in the slips - if I recall correctly Smith thought New Zealand had the edge in all of those areas. They've got a couple of useful fielders within the 30 metre circle too, blokes by the names of Ponting and Clarke...

Bangladesh need to take some tough decisions here. I know it is not easy for them to bat and adjust in conditions in New Zealand after playing in the subcontinent a week ago. Indian and Pakistani batsmen have struggled too..but they still need to rectify some selection blunders

1. Drop Ashraful for atleast a year. Siddons recently said that he knew Ashraful did not perform and did not deserve a place but he would not be dropped as there is no one better to replace him. While that might be true, there was no need to say that in public because that will just diminish Ashraful's "barely there" hunger for runs and hard work. He considers himself indispensible now and does not feel the need to put in the hard work to save his place. He needs to be dropped immediately, and not picked unless he performs consistently well in the domestic league for a year.

2. Imrul Kayes is a gone case. He is one of the worst openers in the world today. Shahriar Nafees is back, they need to give Shahriar time now to settle down. Also bring back Nafis Iqbal in the reckoning..He was a talented guy, and rotate the place between Shahriar and Nafis Iqbal.

3. Mahmudullah and Naeem need to bat higher up the order.
I know you posted this a while back but some interesting points. I'm no expert when it comes to Bangladeshi cricket but I can't disagree with your first and third recommendations. Maybe a bit harsh on Kayes in your second point, he was run out today primarily due to a poor call from Ashraful (though admittedly not entirely without fault of his own) and made a reasonable start at Napier before being dismissed.
