*Official* Bangladesh in New Zealand

Not really. I'm not saying Williamson is "the best" we have, but in terms of natural talent he is right up there. The more you see of him you'll say the same thing too. He has so much time at the crease it isn't funny.

Yeah there is a big difference between saying Williamson should be playing or is one of the best allround batsmen in New Zealand and merely saying he's one of the most talented. There's no denying Williamson's raw talent, irrespective of how proven (or otherwise) his competence is. "Most talented" does not mean "best" or "most suited to international cricket".

He's getting pretty close..

I personally think Guptill has more class than Broom or McCullum, but judging talent is so subjective so if people think Broom has more raw ability then thats fine. I don't think there's even a way of testing it.

In my view the most talented batsman is Mathew Sinclair, who scores runs is spite of his technique because of his sublime eye. but he's not an option because unlike Oram and maybe Ingram/McIntosh if they succeed, he can't score test runs in spite of his technique.

It (Talent vs technique) is actualy a very interesting topic the more I think about it. Jacob Oram doesn't exactly have much of a technique at all, yet he fashioned out a record that arguably should have been even better. Sinclair couldnt.

Though technique can be..not over-rated but deceptive. E.g. on the surface players like Sehwag and Ryder have crap footwork, but when they execute their shots theyre in excellent positions with top notch balance.

In being one of the best batsmen we have, perhaps. There are probably six or seven batsmen I'd place higher then him when rating New Zealand's best batsmen. Williamson really needs to score some runs for the A team IMO for us to judge him any higher, plus improve on that FC record of his. He hasn't really put up a big score in any form of domestic cricket yet, so that will always count against him also.

It really depends on what your've seen of the said players really. If you haven't seen much of Broom at the domestic level then your probably not going to rate him very highly at all.

The two reasons I rate Broom so much are, his knocked I witnessed at Seddon Park two years ago. And the comments made from an Aussie coach/player after the 2008 Emerging players tournament. Seeing him score a 100 when his team was at one point 6-70 and not even look remotely troubled on a seaming deck, and then being called head and shoulders above any New Zealand batsmen in a tournament by a rival team when you have the likes of Ryder, Guptill Watling etc playing is pretty high praise and is pretty indicative of the talent you possess.

On the subject of Hamish Marshall, he's been drafted into the Knights squad, lol

And people wonder why Tim Southee isn't improving at this level, same story every time.

Bangladesh need to take some tough decisions here. I know it is not easy for them to bat and adjust in conditions in New Zealand after playing in the subcontinent a week ago. Indian and Pakistani batsmen have struggled too..but they still need to rectify some selection blunders

1. Drop Ashraful for atleast a year. Siddons recently said that he knew Ashraful did not perform and did not deserve a place but he would not be dropped as there is no one better to replace him. While that might be true, there was no need to say that in public because that will just diminish Ashraful's "barely there" hunger for runs and hard work. He considers himself indispensible now and does not feel the need to put in the hard work to save his place. He needs to be dropped immediately, and not picked unless he performs consistently well in the domestic league for a year.

2. Imrul Kayes is a gone case. He is one of the worst openers in the world today. Shahriar Nafees is back, they need to give Shahriar time now to settle down. Also bring back Nafis Iqbal in the reckoning..He was a talented guy, and rotate the place between Shahriar and Nafis Iqbal.

3. Mahmudullah and Naeem need to bat higher up the order.

Hard to disagree with those points.

Wow, lovely ball from McKay. Most batsmen would have struggled to keep that one out.

I'd say it's game over but you could've said it an hour ago
Mahmudullah to make himself a hero.

Because they have bowling stars such as Lance Shaw around

This is horrible by Bangladesh, every first class team here bar Central would probably give them a hiding.

This is really encouraging stuff from McKay just following along on cricinfo.

Admittedly I hadn't heard of him before this season's HRV cup.

Also it's against Bangladesh but it seems he is bowling some great balls that would trouble any batsman. Anyone watching it live give an indication of how he is going?

How many run-out's has Martin Guptill got in international cricket now, be close to 10 I think. He's just so fast getting to the ball, he has to be one of the best ground fielders in the world these days.
