Thanks.Picked as a batsman. Was a bit off that Guptill got a roll ahead of him though; he's definitely at least the sixth best OD bowler in the team.

U know ur stuff polo. Other guys gave been a disgraceMan..that Broom guy needs to be dropped.
Broom scores runs once against a first-class standard side and you win the argument that he should be playing internationals?Man..that Broom guy needs to be dropped.
I thought he was really impressive. He was sending them down leg too much against the left-handed openers, but he put the ball in some great areas against the righties later on.How did McKay bowl?
Showed his quality quite clearly. Obviously he is not "rubbish" as so many people have labeled him. Give him a bit of time to bat (like he had yesterday) and he'll come up trumps.Broom scores runs once against a first-class standard side and you win the argument that he should be playing internationals?
Several people say this, but only Taylor, Guptill and Ingram have better List A averages in this team.Broom doesn't look much, but he's been very good domestically in FC so I'd like to see him have an opportunity in tests. Some of his shot choices might bring about his downfall though, but in tests he has the luxury of being allowed to wait for a bad ball. Maybe thats where his List A poorness comes from, his shot selection.
Haha, was thinking that about him yesterday. I really hope he doesn't follow the Skippy route.Jeez the Franklin haters surely seem to be ignoring his last two years of domestic cricket here and in England. He's probably been one of the most prolific domestic scorers since he returned from injury. Even the commentators barely even note his recent domestic form and simply judge him by his past international record. Of course he may be a Sinclair in terms of domestic runs turning into international failures but he deserves a little more leeway than a single bat.
Other things to note are that our commentators don't seem to know anything about Bangladesh. Tamim > Ashraful easily in recent form yet Ashraful often gets called their best batsman. Shakib gets little mention of his value to their team (Banga's Vettori) and Rahim got rubbished a bit too much. The only Bangladeshi that I've really been ignorant about is this S Islam, jeez he looks a talent.
Once again, that's a very odd way of looking at things.Showed his quality quite clearly.
Elliott and Styris are strange cases though. Styris began his career as a bowler who batted down the order and his record is heavily effected by that. Elliott's record in South Africa was pretty poor but as I pointed when he was originally selected for New Zealand in ODIs, his record as a one day batsman since he made the move had been exceptional for three (or four?) seasons running.Several people say this, but only Taylor, Guptill and Ingram have better List A averages in this team.
Outside of the team, his average is slightly higher than Elliott's and similar to Styris' too.
Agree with this, if Broom can continue this form throughout his career then I'll be happy to see him in the ODI team but I'd definitely say he's more of a FC batsman than limited overs.Elliott and Styris are strange cases though. Broom might score runs against Bangladesh in one day cricket when he's in the form of his life, but the thing about form is that it's a temporary state of improvement and intrinsically cyclical. His form will drop back down to normal standards and I don't think he'll last as an ODI batsman, personally. Tests are an entirely different matter though; he fully deserves his chance there.
To me it proves he can hack it, regardless of how good Bangladesh is. I don't think it is a skill or technique thing, I think Broom has enough of both to succeed, it is the mental side of things which could hold him back. That score against Bangladesh is going to do a lot.Once again, that's a very odd way of looking at things.
Just two minor points
1. One innings in international cricket proves nothing, even if he played it against Hadlee/Marshall/Barnes/Lillee/Warne
2. Bangladesh are not an international quality side anyway
just admit polo was right here thierry ok.Once again, that's a very odd way of looking at things.

I was only addressing the 'Broom is poor at List A' allegation.Elliott and Styris are strange cases though. I don't think anyone hates Franklin.Jeez the Franklin haters surely seem to be ignoring his last two years of domestic cricket here and in England. I am pretty sure people on here know how good Franklin is, but it is more a case of them being unsatisfied that his role in the ODI side fits in with the teams best interests. Sure he is a quality allrounder, but he is like at best our eighth best bat and fifth best seamer - and he doesn't have a defined role in either department with regards to the ODI side.Jeez the Franklin haters surely seem to be ignoring his last two years of domestic cricket here and in England..
That is a fairly weak argument, since Franklin didn't bat above no.8 for at least his first 50 ODIs.Franklin has played 70 odd ODI's and averages under 20 yet he is batting higher than Broom, I haven't seen too many people on here saying Franklin is rubbish and should be dropped.
I don't see how. Playing Bangladesh simply isn't an international quality fixture. To me it proves he can hack it
Well, I do, based on what I've seen of him in his international career thus far.I don't think it is a skill or technique thing
