Yes but i want your reasons if you agree/disagree

The T20 World Cup is in 3 months time and the other is 12 months away. What part means Styris is not part of those plans? If they were two years away then thats another story
Jesus really?

Didn't we just have one?

Yes he has Heath Davis...just check out the MVP Points standings on nzcricket.co.nz

He is Number 1, Vettori No.2, Southee 3

That makes him the best player in the country for this tournament

Top 5 in runs scored, wickets and top 3 in RPO

Thats pretty handy in my book and shows form

April 30th. No question that Styris has to be there. He an N.McCullum should be our T20 specialists

The ratings aren't everything, as it happens. They're clearly skewed towards all rounders (as Styris, Vettori and Southee have been proficient in both disciplines).

Vettori has had at least one shocker of a game which will have dragged his rating down.

What do the individual batting & bowling ratings say? I'd wager Styris is right up there in the batting, but maybe Guptill, Vincent, possibly Ingram ahead of him. Maybe Neal Parlane.

Anyway, I'm not disagreeing with you that he should definitely be in both the 20:20 and ODI teams. Probably even ahead of Franklin, who needs to show he's clear of injury - probably with a couple of First Class games - before we should be throwing him into international competition.

My only wonder is that this squad may have been selected primarily with Bangladesh in mind? Do we have ODIs and 20:20 against them?

If Auckland were able to field their best bowling line up (Mills, Tuffeh, Bates and Shaw) I'd back them to win this thing.

Their batting is sooo good.

incorrect again HD

Styris has more runs than Ingram/Vincent/Guptill and a better strike Rate than Vincent/Ingram but not Guptill but they are openers anyway

Neal Parlane is in front of him in both categories

What is your problem? I'm agreeing with you that Styris should be in the team! Rather than basing my assessment on stats alone, I'm going on what I've seen in the tournament as well. He is not as clear as day away at the top of the ladder as you're trying to make out in this 20:20 tourny. I don't intend to pour over stats alone just to try and prove a point. I'd rather utilise the two eyes that I have in addition to stats.

However, whether he's number 1 is irrelevant, as him being in the top half a dozen OD batsmen in the country should be sufficient to gain him a position in the ODI squad.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
If we're building towards the T20 WC then Brad Scott should at least be given a go in this series IMO.

He was a dud, plain and simple really. Scored most of his runs on roads and ended up being found out. He couldn't even get a contract with CD this season.

This is the most recent article I can find on him
Never saw him bat personally but has high averages in all three forms

Davis still in the wickets & Williamson in the runs for BOP. Trent Boult's older brother also continuing his impressive allround form. Not sure why his brother wasn't playing though.
Also note I play in the same club XI as the 2 top scorers for Valley
Apparently one of them got a good ball from Davis, just managed to play it back to him and remarked "good ball", to which Davis replied "**** up". LOL

Should move to Canterbury or Wellington.
I'm surprised he hasn't moved somewhere else tbh, surely if he was smart he would of contacted a few domestic teams after being left of the CD contract list. Even though it would of been too late to score a contract he might of had a chance to play domestic cricket all season.

Yeah that's who I play for. We won the 1st round 100 over trophy and so far undefeated in the 2nd round 50 over comp. I worked my way up to opening bowler but unfortunately had a nightmare 3rd over on the Saturday just gone, was bowling into a stiff wind with the ball swinging a mile 4 wides in row down leg-side:laugh: was a shame because prior to that i had already found two edges and dropped an impossible caught & bowled

Trying to get into the best batting side in the country probably not the best decision if he was looking for a contract.
