The guest host thing is, of some intrigue, but they need to scale the ridiculousness down a bit, it is getting a bit silly.Napoleon Dynamite on Raw
It is not good, in any traditional sense of the word, but it definitely intrigues me; much like the Invasion storyline, tbh.So I just lost two hours of my life to this week's Impact.
WCW 2000, all is forgiven.
Yeah I totally agree, from a purely visual point of view, I would say it is about the one way TNA have improved massively in recent weeks. If you were to just see a still photograph of their arena once it had been set up I would say it looks a hell of a lot more credible and professional than the 6 sided job.Didn't see Impact, but so very happy the six-sided ring is gone. Just screamed different for the sake of being different, and made it look even more second rate that it is.
Same here, but in the same way a car crash does, it's just so bad, I can't draw my eyes away.It is not good, in any traditional sense of the word, but it definitely intrigues me; much like the Invasion storyline, tbh.
I was never a fan of the 6-sided ring but I think it is ridiculous that they got rid of it, for the following reasons:Yeah I totally agree, from a purely visual point of view, I would say it is about the one way TNA have improved massively in recent weeks. I think this is the most important factor by far tbh, but at the same time, whilst the TNA fans may have loved it, arguably the casual wrestling fans that they were failing to attract were largely put off by it. I know that obviously something needed to be different from WWE to get a USP, but for me their in ring match style and high risk factor should be enough for this. Plus the fact that they should note that the E formula has been incredibily successful, there isn't any real reason to stray too far from this simply for the sake of it, in my opinion anyway. Think I said this before, but what annoys me most about the transition from 6 to 4 sides is the nature of the change, and how it happened at the drop of the hat as soon as big cheese Hogan walks in the door, as it just makes the company look incredibly stupid and weak by having them fall over themselves to pander to the wishes of their new "big star".I was never a fan of the 6-sided ring but I think it is ridiculous that they got rid of it, for the following reasons:
1 - It was different to WWE. They don't have the star power to take them on in that way so need a USP to get along and this was theirs.
2 - It gave a sense of legitimacy to the in-ring competition due to its similarity to a fighting ring. I'm not saying anyone believed it was any more real than WWE or anything like that, just that it did give it that sort of credibility.
3 - This is the most important thing - the loyal TNA fans LOVED it. See the reaction at Genesis to it being removed. It would have been like banning weapons in ECW (the proper one).
The thing for me though, is you say the WWE formula is successful enough, but that's just the point I reckon. If they copy WWE's formula they'll get nowhere because they don't have the star power, and while they put on the occasional good match, Impact is generally filled with crap matches and even crapper angles. Yes, Raw often is as well but on both counts it generally doesn't sink as low. I just don't think casual fans are going to watch TNA because they have a 4-sided ring, because if I want to watch a 4-sided ring I'll watch the wrestling show that's actually good. For all the complaints people have about WWE, the PPVs are rarely less than good, Smackdown & ECW usually have very good matches and Raw has picked up a LOT lately and is about to get way hot in the lead-up to Mania. Like yourself and Manee, it is morbid curiosity that has me watching the freakshow that is TNA.I think this is the most important factor by far tbh, but at the same time, whilst the TNA fans may have loved it, arguably the casual wrestling fans that they were failing to attract were largely put off by it. I think that the actual changing of the ring from six sides to four sides is an irrelevance. TNA wasn't made by six sides, it was made by the fact that it is not WWE, has a close knit group of fans and the highflying, high impact style. I agree that the 'nature of the change' was what was of importance. Hogan simply cannot waste the heat that he has with the loyal TNA fans, the ones that fill up the studio at Impact tapings and PPVs, a heel turn for Hogan in the power struggle storyline with Foley and Jarrett would really be for the best and could generate genuine intrigue in the split between the Hogan crowd and the Foley crowd. It does not need to be a company wide thing, keeping it to the aforementioned and the Band (I do like where they are going and hope it continues along the same track), Styles, Angle would be enough - with the lower card keeping to their own storylines.I think this is the most important factor by far tbh, but at the same time, whilst the TNA fans may have loved it, arguably the casual wrestling fans that they were failing to attract were largely put off by it. Yeah, also dire. Was last week's, dire hey. Did you see the Foley fired segment?
That is so ridiculous. The amount of talent in TNA is incredible and it's such a shame that they've been held back by poor booking throughout these years. All of those names are big stars in their own right.I only read the report of the screwjob, as soon as I saw it I IRL facepalmed. If you had asked me to write a list of everything TNA could possibly do with Hogan in charge that would wreck the organisation, the show and any chance of me ever wanting to seriously get into it I am pretty sure it would have come out with everything they've actually done on it. Saw a post today on a wrestling site listing the people that Bischoff wants out, so dire, Christopher Daniels, Eric Young, Homicide and someone else, basically loads of the people that TNA fans love. Also apparently Hogan wants nothing to do with Kaz. Ugh.
If that's accurate then it is extremely poor, does Bischoff not realise that the popularity TNA has was and is built around performers like these? Can't see why any company wouldn't want them as part of their roster tbh. Apparently Vince McMahon is very high on Kaz, so I really hope he jumps to WWE and ends up mega over, would just show TNA what a balls up they are making of things.I only read the report of the screwjob, as soon as I saw it I IRL facepalmed.
