Surely that wouldn't be the night session though. It'd only be if Dellacqua wins.
Honestly why would channel think they'd get an audience for a Dellacqua vs Williams match on a Saturday night? Just looking at the draw there are not too many other blockbusters though, Perhaps Hantuchova vs. Na would be a better match.

Ch 7 may go Stosur vs. Brianti though too.

Verdasco, Fed and Tsonga get up and my multi is complete :D

May have an early night tonight. Will have Dellacqua vs. Sprem on in the background but if it's **** hit the sack.

Yeah I agree. Bet the ratings are **** tonight.

I'd much rather Sprem vs. Venus if I have to watch her or Dellaqua though. At least Sprem beat Venus at Wimbledon 04. Even if the chair umpire did **** up the scoring. Was mentioned in tonight's coverage too.

I wouldn't have minded going tomorrow night. Had I bought Friday tickets I'd be seeing Nadal vs. Kohlschreiber and Clijsters vs. Petrova. Sounds awesome.

Dellacqua is broken by serving a double, then breaks back immediately from a double by her opponent. Says a bit about the match.

Lleyton Hewitt has a win/loss ratio of 1-15 in Grand Slams against top 4 players throughout his whole career.

Wow.
 Wish someone brought that up when the ATP named him the third best player of the decade. :D

(admittedly most players would be...Đoković is 1-9 for example)

Is Baghdatis just friends with Sprem? Or more :-/ seems to want her to win badly in the crowd.

Dellacqua finish this FFS. Don't double fault on match point.

I swear, Molik, Stosur, Dokic and Dellacqua all self-implode so often.

Will laugh so hard if Sprem takes it to a third.

I'll also turn off the TV. Couldn't handle another set of this nonsense.

Had the same thought re. Baghdatis. Not sure why else he would be there, surely he would be recovering and relaxing after his match...

Common theme with the Aussie women, seems especially prominent when playing at home though. I guess it makes sense; the extra pressure placed on them, but it's still awful to watch.

That would have been horrible, embarrassing. I would've walked away from the TV in disgust, but it almost happened. Dellacqua was so incredibly nervous at the end of the game there, she even said as much in her post-match interview. Probably not the right mindset to have, but when your next match is against Venus Williams, it probably doesn't matter too much anyway...

I think this is the earliest the matches have finished so far. Not sure though.

To be fair, the vast majority of female players have similar problems. The Ruskies are especially bad.

Tomic fast turning into another male Australian tennis player I can't warm to. What a little brat.

Meh. I think he has a point in some ways about the late start and late finish. Seriously it's not good for anyone having a non rain affected match go so late in the early stages of the tournament.

I don't see why there can't be a rule in place that in the first week of tennis if the games aren't behind schedule that the tennis finishes at an agreed time, say midnight.

What time did Tomic's and Cilic's first round match start and finish?

Harsh, his match was past his bedtime.
Then he shouldn't be playing with men.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that it's great fun to be playing past 1am, but the fact of the matter is that tennis games regularly go for much longer than anyone expects. Cutting off games at an allotted time would wreak havoc with sheduling over a two week period. Not to mention matches shouldn't be broken up (not sure if that's what NUFAN was suggesting) unless the situation is absolutely neccessary (rain).

But that's sorta beside the point. The comments made by himself and his father in the media, the spat with Hewitt and now this petulant complaining and subsequent refusal to back down after being given many concessions by TA just reek of someone I have no desire to support. This golden child mentality around a kid who is nothing more than potential just shows how dire Australian tennis is at the moment.
