Well, historically, SA have picked swing bowlers when there's no real guns in the attack because they generally get some assistance in grade cricket and rack up some impressive numbers (afternoon southerlies and all that). Accurate swing bowlers will generally go well at Adelaide Oval; Swain, Sincock, Hawke, Wigney, Sayers, etc. Putland is one of the better performed bowlers around and no quick is really putting their hand up this year, Christian arguably the most consistent this year. So he should be there or thereabouts. There's possibly a big opportunity for him for a regular spot; maybe all he's missing is being able to hit the channel consistently enough?
