Am a tad surprised, tbh. He seems to have some potential but he's surely a bit wet behind the ears to be blooded into Test Cricket?

He's only had moderate success in ODI's to date and seems to be a player in the Flintoff mould, but only time will tell whether he can make that progression.

As I've said previously Cook obviously has a lot of talent but it's typical England in not making much of it. England are quite happy for him to keep plodding on averaging low 40s (thanks to run feast on roads) when he should be given the time away to become a proper Test batsman by working on his flaws properly.

In fact it's a problem for world cricket when teams like Aus lose to a nation that can't even produce talent for a full team.

These players have nothing to do with England. It's not like any old monkey can walk into a national team, players need development which cost time and money and additionally keeps someone else from gettinbg that time,money and resources. If these players go overseas, then years of hard work are wasted and may have been better off being invested into someone who actually intends to play cricket for thier country.
