**Official** Pakistan in New Zealand (3 tests)

In ways he is both better and worse than other journeyman openers.

Better because once he is in he scores 2136646677*

Worse because his history, even domestically, shows that he's almost a walking wicket for the first hour of his innings.

He's going to be an occassional flat track bully.

I'm undecided on him now, which is why I was furious he was picked for this match. Suspected he'd score a 50 without it being a 23657788*
I still rate Cumming higher than him but I'd place Mc over all the other tried and tested failures.

Anyone see Watling's dismissal?
As people predicted last night - he got out fiddling with one outside off stump. He went on the back foot and looked like he wanted to run it out to point even though there was a fielder there and it took the edge.

Either try to hit it more positively or leave it. Howsie said that for ND he would have played it more positively and that it was a case of nerves.

Jeez this is an excellently even series, reckon we should still put a decentish lead on here, mirroring to a lesser extent the good position Pakistan had over us in Wellington.

I think the young bloke has a lot of positives to take away from his innings mostly from last night. He lasted till stumps and stuck around which is more than Redmond, Guppy and co. were able to do on debut.

All it takes is one wicket.

Hope Southee slogs a few.
Yeah but on this wicket I think the tail will still manage a couple runs. O'Brien to go out in a blaze of glory. Pakistan's tail scored 63 runs and if you include Farhat's partnership they got 130+ with the tail.

Even if we get half that we should still secure a lead.

We should have had a fcuking massive lead though.

Let's not forget, he only made 18. Hardly anything to be jumping for joy about not matter how good he looked.

We need more than just "a lead" though. The pitch is so good that even with Pakistan's batting lineup, 400 is still definately possible, and with Kaneria bowling the way he is, I can't see us chasing any more than 300 in the final innings.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Very attacking partnership this one, in complete contrast to the batting earlier in the day. Shows what confidence can do.
