*Official* England in South Africa

VDM continually spearing it into leg stump kind of gets a bit predictable after a while, just bread and butter for the likes of Colly. VDM turned the ball earlier this year and bowled with some intelligence but he hasn't started this season particularly well. South Africa can't drop him as Botha with no doosra is useless but cause for concern. Be nice if they could get some more overs out of Duminy, never disgraces himself when bowling.

Just showed Pietersen's ODi record in SA, astonishing really. 9 innings, 500 runs, average of 125 with 3 hundreds and a 50. He likes playing in South Africa that's for sure. Hopefully he'll make it 4 hundreds in this innings.

It's his favourite shot. I remember reading a quote from him saying he believes he can sweep almost any delivery (evidently not) and that it's the shot he practises most in the nets. Does seem to get out playing it quite alot though. He's been quite frustrating to watch in ODi's in the past few months, he should be putting more runs on the board than he is.

That is all England need, another bowler who does not know how to take wickets.
Haa yep the cupboard is bare. He has shown to be decent @ the death though, but for some odd reason he doesn't swing the white new ball.

Bumble with another spurious theory "good to 'av a left armer in your one day team". What a load of drivel, as bad as his "good to 'av a leg-spinner in T20". No, it's good to have good bowlers in your team. Simply picking a bowler because he's a left armer to provide a 'different angle' is a load of old rubbish. His commentary has annoyed me over the past few months. Same old catchphrases, pretty terrible attempts at comedy, constant shouting of 'START THE CAR' and now his spurious theories. Rather listen to Botham =/

AWTA as far as Bumble being overpoweringly irritating is concerned. DWTA about having a left armer - I do actually think that the variation that a (good) left-arm pace bowler brings has a certain value.

It's true, but written down it makes him sound absolutely bat**** crazy.

Having a good left-arm pace bowler yes, but he'd have to be better than the other options to make it worthwhile. Bumble's point came across as he'd just pick a left-armer for the sake of it. If the left-armer's one of your best 4/5 bowlers then pick them, but I was of the impression that he'd just pick a left-armer for the sake of having one. As with his similarly bizarre leg-spinner theory.

Good over for England that one. Sure all Collingwood's good work will be put to waste when Prior blocks out the next over before picking up a single 6th ball.

Edit:  Was worse than I predicted, awful shot and a dire innings from Prior. Such a terrible One Day batsman, get rid of him now.

McLaren = Epic fail. Two years in waiting for medium pacer with no control or variation.

Lot of positives for England in regard to their ODI top order. Strauss whilst not going on is now capable of making positive starts, Trott looks comfortable at the top, Morgan has been a revelation and Colly, set for back-to-back hundreds is in great touch and then you got the KP factor. England will be hoping the batsman don't blow their load before the first test starts.
