*Official* England in South Africa

That was last year. In 2009 has been very solid, its only the other day in CT he had two superb spells vs SA & SRI. Anderson remains a must pick in the ODI team.
Do you have Anderson's figures for 2009?

Ah - and it seems Wright is opening. Against Steyn swinging the ball at pace? Sounds like a waste to me.

Jimmeh in 2009: 29 wickets @ 26 with an economy of 5.14 and a strike rate of 31.3. Hard to drop him tbh.

Worth giving Wright a go I think. If it comes off then he's going to score quickly, which would give us a chance to chase this down. I don't think we've got a hope in hell, but we'll be in a far better position if Wright smacks a 50-70 in good time.

Unlikely to work but then England are already unlikely to win. They have to be aggressive in the PP. Is Wright the correct guy? Probably not but at least they are trying something

If they are going to do it do it they would be better of having Swann in my opinion, can see Wright convincing himself he is actually a batsman and going along at a similar rate the Trott would have done.

Not a bad start. Wright's doing the job, been abit lucky but he's striking at a decent rate. Strauss has started really nicely as well, his timing has been excellent. Still don't think we've got a chance of chasing this down, but it's a promising start.

Great start by Srauss and Wright!

We certainly have a game on guys...

Hope Steyn can get 1-2 from the TOP though :P

What a tit. He gets out like that so many times, stop playing the shot ffs. Good effort though, at least he did get us off to a good start and managed to strike at over 100. Would be KP in next for me.

Hmm - expecting an English player to use his brain?

With the best will in the world, Wright's not once showed that he can play at the top of the order for England. Whereas down the order his record he's more than once given it some serious humpty.

 Fair point. Seems to be a real issue with our players. Broad showed it earlier, at the end of the innings bowling short or back of a length. It's just plain stupidity really. It's obvious he was going to get carted, and with Wright it was obvious he was going to get out playing that shot. So frustrating.

Cannot remember the last innings played by Strauss that the commentator did not say 'he looks at the top of his game today'' when will they just realise that he is just good.

If South Africa manage to restrict Pietersen's scoring and get him out for not many I see no way back for us. Big wicket to get Strauss, he was looking good.

South Africa have bowling to him down to a tee. Full and wide and he always nicks out.

Have I sold anyone on that yet?

Only Trotty would have done anything good from the 3 out so far...

If get in, KP and Colli can try and take Poms closer to the SAF total!
