The thing is, only Sinclair and Fulton average over 40 out of that lot.Sinclair is killing it - 163 not out.
I had a thought a while ago that perhaps one of the reasons the domestic bullies (Sinclair, Papps, Bell, Cumming, Parlane and to some extent Fulton) do so well locally but fail to step up to international level might be because the come to rely overly on familiarity with bowlers. It's a competition with only 6 teams (not arguing there should be more btw) and they face the same bowlers year in, year out. They must pretty much know what's coming out of the bowler's hand before he does and that could be a crutch that they suddenly don't have when facing international bowlers.*
A host of other reasons too obviously... quality... mindset etc.
I also wondered who are the best bowlers in the last year or two against those guys, whether it turns out to be bowlers of decent quality who they might not have faced much before, or whether I'm totally wrong and it's someone like Ewen Thompson. Some Statsguru type person might be able to work that out .
* Am going to ignore Sinclair's double ton on debut here as he wasn't half the domestic bully then that he is now.
Uhh...Yovich is a right armer, bats left handed.Greg Todd, a noted contender for the number three position for NZ, fell to Yovich and Scott and scored 17 runs in the match. Both bowlers are left arm seamers.
Bugger.Uhh...Yovich is a right armer, bats left handed.
Bit strange to name a trophy after a mediocre English bowler.New Zealand Cricket - Plunket Shield returns as premier domestic first-class trophy
"New Zealand Cricket is committed to retain the Plunket Shield for our four-day first-class competition into the future. The naming rights for this competition are not for sale."
Great news, IMO. Of course, this has probably only happened because they couldn't find a sponsor, but still.
I support ND, and i'll put my left leg on him being a right armer.Bugger.
Really? I'm sure I saw him bowl left arm? And ND seems to be the team I always end up watching the most as well.
Oh well.
Haha, dont worry I believe you he's a right armer.I support ND, and i'll put my left leg on him being a right armer.
I'll also chuck my left testicle in there for good measure.Haha, dont worry I believe you he's a right armer.
Though sticking to it on the off chance you're going to lose your left leg is tempting..
I don't know why you think he's so slow for, he actually has some pretty decent pace tbh.Haha, dont worry I believe you he's a right armer.

EDIT: yep, right arm fast medium apparently. Not so sure on the fast medium bit but he is right arm.
Not overly. Cricinfo are pretty broad when they talk fast medium. I'd go for medium fast but it doesn't matter that much.I don't know why you think he's so slow for, he actually has some pretty decent pace tbh.

Bugger.

I embarrass you?Jeez you're an embarrassment sometimes, Flem. This is the kind of rubbish Te Ahu and Mitch McClenaghan are on about.
Wasn't he always talked of as a number three? In any case, he's made a nice start to number five.Is Burtt an actual international prospect? I've seen him bowl a few times (I saw him live at Seddon Park last year and he looked alright) But the few times I've seen him bowl on TV he hasn't looked that flash. He's still fairly young and did play for the NZ under 19's a few years back so he must have some sort of upside.
Unlucky for Cam Merchant yesterday also, really pulling for the guy this year (Except for when he plays ND of course). He was never really able to bat where he's best suited for us so it's good to see him perform right away for Wellington.
Oh and CD really need to find a spinner, Worker's already sent down 31 overs in this innings.
Houghton lost his Wellington contract, dunno what he's doing now. He should move to CDwhy would you move to a province that has Woodcock, Patel and Houghton?
Nick Beard and George Worker were the spinners in that team. Tamati Clarke is a middle order batsman, and he plays for ND.I believe we have a spinner that played in the U19 squad that Williamson, Southee and co. came through and off memory his name was Tamiti Clarke but thats a guess. Whether the spinner I can barely remember is the best option I don't know. We seem to be pretty thin on bowlers these days.
Lol wrong again then.Nick Beard and George Worker were the spinners in that team. Tamati Clarke is a middle order batsman, and he plays for ND.
