AFL Draft

Int: Bowen Lockwood

As well as having one of the greatest names to ever grace the football field, Bowen was a super promising key position prospect for Port Adelaide, who did time forward and back for his team. Unfortunately, his 50th game was his last, due to continual back problems which he still struggles with in daily life. He was a major catalyst for the fund that the AFLPA has set up for ex-players whose injuries encountered through football stay with him for life.

Wanted the following names for that position, but they all had just notched up their 50 games:

Paul Lynch
Donald Dickie
Shaun Higgins (52 games, gah!)

Ah, yeah.

Going to select former Cats captain Mark Bairstow, who was a prime mover during our success in the early 1990s. Hard, reasonably quick, and a good user of the football.

B: Rohan Smith, Ashley McIntosh, David King
HB: Andrew McKay, Chris Grant, Wayne Campbell
C: Peter Matera, Darren Jarman, Simon Goodwin
HF: Stephen Tingay, Wayne Carey (C), Dean Kemp
F: Phil Matera, John Longmire, Luke Power
R: Shaun Rehn, Mark Riccuito, Johnny Platten

Int: Luke Darcy, Bowen Lockwood, Mark Bairstow

No way you'd reconsider that is there Zac? :(. It's like you're trying to gut me in this draft. Had Millane penciled in for my team since about round three, but again dumbly figured given his vintage and too short span he'd slip. Wrote his name down before deciding to take Ling and going back to change it.
Suspected as much, got screwed myself as I was pretty close to picking Rich but thought I'd get him as the final pick. I missed out on all my favourite players as well (SOS, Sticks and Kouta :( )

Yeah Gibbs is a gun, as is Rich. I only chose Cotchin for bias reasons. Love that kid.

Going with the tough/hard theme that my (and Howard J's) team has so far (Brereton, Lynch, Archer, Colbert, Milburn), I'm adding Damien Hardwick.

Very good, tough and versatile player. Played a big part in Port's 2004 flag.

B: Clement, Prestigiacomo, Archer
HB: Milburn, Colbert, Kennelly
C: S. Hart, T Edwards, Deledio
HF: Bradshaw, Brereton, Embley
F: Lynch, Lloyd, N Davis
R: Keating, Ablett Jnr, Cousins
Int: Knights, Cotchin, Hardwick

There were a few midfielders I wanted but with Knights and Cotchin already on the bench, figured I needed some versatility.
