*Official* English Football Season 2009-2010

When we spend as much as Chelsea and like, and don't win, then you may criticise. You are criticising us for not wining as much as them knowing we don't spend as much as them?
Think it was shown a while ago that Liverpool's net spend over the past few years is fairly colossal.

The facts are as follows: Liverpool are crap, Carragher is crap, and Benitez is crap.

EDIT: Oh and the Yanks are crap as well.

It happens in every match to every defender. You cannot possibly stop a player running in front of you, especially if they've made a late run. If it happens to you 10+ times, sure, there is something obviously not succinct there. But it will happen a few times a game.
No, it really doesn't.

And what does that have to do with anything. I thought we were criticising Carragher on a non-existent poor match. Lose one argument at a time.
Oh my apologies, I forget that the performance of one individual player counted for more than the result of the team. How foolish of me to suggest that at the end of the day there was no greater statistic than the scoreline.

Yes, it does, and if you think it doesn't you know f-all about football. Without totally revealing my identity, I play football, have done so for varying levels and my dad and uncles have played at the international level. It happens, and stick to cricket.

You must be reading a different thread as well as having watched a different match. I never said the above, and am wondering where you got to that conclusion. I thoroughly own the loss as a Liverpool fan, but it doesn't mean I am going to join in and criticise the best player in our defense today with non-existent "facts".

Hands up everyone who agrees with this.

That's not really the point. It means he rarely gave the ball away. Anyway, the free-kick thing is key as the number he gave away is 0.
Hmm I wonder who counts those things could have swore he give away at least 2 free kicks in the first half:unsure:

I'm not anti Liverpool or anti Carragher but I thought he was poor again today Bent give him the run around and but for a little composure could have had 2 or 3 goals. and there has been a noticable decline in Carragher this season.

No, I think it wasn't. It rivals yours throughout the last few years but is kinda different since many of your players come from before Benitez played and your squad is built upon tremendous record-breaking signings of the past. Whereas you spend 30 million on Berbatov, we spend the same amount having to replace 4-5 players. That's why, for instance, for the money of 3 of your players (Rio, Berba and Rooney), you could buy most of our squad.

I am not saying you are. I can't recall him doing anything wrong in the first half and not even conceding a free-kick. I regularly look at the chalkboards to see things and I noticed Carragher hadn't conceded a free-kick the entire match. Agger conceded a few though IIRC, maybe you mistook him for Carragher.

It's just horrible to read. Quantative stats obfuscate the essence of the beautiful game. Butch Wilkins must've had about 100% pass completion but all the **** ever did was pass the ball sideways to the nearest man. Carvalho might've intercepted 99% of through balls today, but he was still Dunne (ha!) for Villa's first goal.

I'm not a fan of using stats excessively in cricket debates anyway (especially with bowlers) but as you say Brumby, it doesn't work in football.
