No, no and no.
Fernando Torres £20,200,000
Alberto Aquilani £20,000,000
Robbie Keane £19,000,000
Glen Johnson £17,500,000
Ryan Babel £11,500,000
No, no and no.
The fact that he let Bent get goal side at least twice give away needless free kicks & just doesn't look solid & that's transmittting itself through the rest of the defense. No, no and no.
I don't recall him getting beat to any ball or beat by any man or making any mistakes. Where was he awful?
Torres is still at the club - worth probably triple. Keane was sold for a few million under what we got him, Johnson and Aquilani were purchased with the players we sold this year and Babel is hardly an expensive buying.

Yes, they may all still be at the club, but my point was that he has spent a lot of money, and achieved pittance, nothing you can say about any of the players changes this fact.Torres is still at the club - worth probably triple. If I were to list United, Chelsea, City or Tottenham's players they'd humble our spending.
Letting a player get goal side of you is now a travesty? By that standard there isn't a decent defender in the world. Which needless free-kicks did he give? He didn't give a free-kick away in the whole game. He had a 96% passing rate, made tackles and stopped 2 potential goals. I am not sure which match you were watching or who you mistook for Carragher. If anything, he was the most assured defender on the pitch today. Skrtel wasn't looking good and Agger simply was finding his feet. The fact that he let Bent get goal side at least twice give away needless free kicks & just doesn't look solid & that's transmittting itself through the rest of the defense.
Skirtel dd look poor also but at least he had an excuse of been played out of position.
You are aware that as a young player, pretty much the most basic thing you learn as a defender is not to let your man get goal side of you?Letting a player get goal side of you is now a travesty? Yes but Carragher had 96% accurate passes! NINETY SIX! That means he could not have been at fault for anything!Ikki please don't use stats in football debates, please please please
He's at the club and is now recognised as one of the best forwards in the world because he plays in a team that helps him score. How has he failed in that respect? If he had bought expensive players who were not performing I'd see your point. We're not losing the title because our expensive players are playing very well.Yes, they may all still be at the club, but my point was that he has spent a lot of money, and achieved pittance, nothing you can say about any of the players changes this fact.
11 million is not much at all. Tottenham bought Darren Bent for 16.5 million that same year. And £11m is not a large amount? Good grief, that's a lot of money for a Premiership player even these days. Utd and Chelsea may humble your spending, but they actually win stuff.
I have played football at varying levels, yes and I know that. What you should also know is that it is inevitable that players will get goal side of you. It happens several times throughout a match. That's like expecting a full-back to block every single cross. It just doesn't happen. You are aware that as a young player, pretty much the most basic thing you learn as a defender is not to let your man get goal side of you?
So you're happy as long as your expensive players play well then? So yes, who cares how the team does as long as Torres is banging in 30 a season? We'll worry about the 80 going in at the other end later on.He's at the club and is now recognised as one of the best forwards in the world because he plays in a team that helps him score. When we spend as much as Chelsea and like, and don't win, then you may criticise. You are criticising us for not wining as much as them knowing we don't spend as much as them?
It's totally different actually, and if it's happening several times throughout a match, you are doing a poor job.I have played football at varying levels, yes and I know that. That's not really the point. It means he rarely gave the ball away. Anyway, the free-kick thing is key as the number he gave away is 0.Yes but Carragher had 96% accurate passes! NINETY SIX! That means he could not have been at fault for anything!

It happens in every match to every defender. You cannot possibly stop a player running in front of you, especially if they've made a late run. If it happens to you 10+ times, sure, there is something obviously not succinct there. But it will happen a few times a game. It's totally different actually, and if it's happening several times throughout a match, you are doing a poor job.
