Oh and QLD suck :'(. WA have a lot of batting depth to come. I'm surprised how terrified I am to see Noffke on an opposition's team sheet.
Ironic that two former Qlders and two of the best domestic bowlers will be opening against us later today.

Goffers MacGoffin and Noffers Noffke.

Two gems.

It's a shame Noffers did his block in the West Indies, otherwise he might be playing for Australia.

I wonder how simpson will stay in this line up weak as it is now,but him at 6 a joke:laugh:
When Hopes and Harris return he'll probably bat at 8 and play as our sole spinner.
6 Hopes 7 Hartley 8 Simpson 9 Harris 10 Laughlin/Cutting etc 11 Walter

Decent bowling lineup that and the batting looks stronger too. Hopes is at least worth 1 1/2 players domestically so him and Simpson are worth 2 players.

I'm going to try and not bash Simpson for the rest of the summer, starting now.

Yeah well Noffers could have been the difference in the Ashes. It's disgraceful that a man of his ability with both bat and ball has never played a test match.

TBF though injury probably hurt his chances more than anything else.

But Simpson is so easy to bash. I wish Maher was still around so that we didn't have to pick a specialist captain. I feel at international level Hopes is vastly underrated by a number of people and at domestic level he is a champion performer. Like you said, worth 1.5 players.

Dan Christian helping to take a couple of early wickets today. Very useful pick up for South Australia, has the ability to take 2-3 very quick wickets. I always enjoy watching him bowl, very aggressive style of bowling, numerous bouncers. He is either taking wickets or conceeding 6+ runs an over, entertaining.

Well short of International level, but still very handy in Sheffield Shield cricket.

Always been a fan of Christian too, reckon he's in the top few players currently in the country that wont play international cricket.

Cosgrove continues his happy knock of stealing a wicket, showing up SA's pace bowling 'depth'.

SA batting, here's hoping Denton left his usual form against SA in Victoria.

EDIT: Oh wait, he wrecked SA when he was at Tas years ago too. Crap.

Whatever happened to Griffith for Tas? He still out injured?
I read an article that he was playing in the Futures Cup match from the other day. Not sure how he went.

Bowling Tassie out for 236 is a good effort by SA, always nice to see a bloke on debut (Jones) score some runs.

Love that TC is giving regular updates from his desk - haha.

We have some fairplay footage up on the website in the form of an update/match report (fairplay system doesn't have sound)

Will be heading out soon to see how it's all going... Will be surprised if any of the guys actually talk to me, so far Nugget has been the only one to acknowledge me:dry:, what a legend...

I have just realised.

No QLD batsman has over 2000 first class runs.
No QLD batsman has an average over 40.
No QLD bowler has taken more than 40 first class wickets.
Only Simpson has taken more than 20 first class wickets.

QLD sorely missing Hayden, Love, Maher, Perren, Symonds, Law etc...

In the bowling department the retirements of Kasprowitz and Bichel and the movement of Noffke and Johnson to the west really has depleted our bowling stocks.

Sad about Dan Cullen. I remember when he got his first CA contract, and soon after bought a new house - and now he's just hanging onto a low level state contract. I think sometimes we forget about the actual human impact that a loss of form can have on a player's life.
Don't think he has lost any form mate, he has been decent in the OD format, whereas in the FC games the pitches haven't had anything in them for him to exploit, which has been a common problem for most finger spinners across Australia.

Tbh, had he been playing outside Australia on slightly receptive pitches, he would have developed into a decent spinner by now, though the baffling thing for me has been how Redbacks have ignored Bailey for their last few FC games, despite him showing some form.

They have preferred O'Brein ahead of him, but they should be giving Bailey a decent run, because not only he has more pedigree with the ball, but he is also decent lower order bat.

Yeah but if he got dropped he should have to earn his way back into the side.

For the record I definitely don't think he should have been dropped.
Apparently the selectors too seem to think on the same lines, though its just a shame that it took them losing the Ashes to realise that they made a mistake.

Not sure you can blame losing the Ashes on the Hughes-Watson swap.

jeez Magoffin's batting improvement has been quite remarkable, used to look pretty hopeless even just a few seasons ago, if anything happens to Watson you wouldn't mind him at 7 or 8.

Krejza with some wickets too, good stuff.
