****ing hell, completely forgot about this D/N in Colombo. I'm destined to be unlucky in cricket gambling.

The side is just out of its comfort zone with both Gambhir and Sehwag sidelined atm. Dravid's selection was really a step backwards imo and some other younger player could have used the experience instead of Dravid.

My recommendation for the Ind line up for the final

- Tendulkar
- Karthik
- Dravid
- UV
- Kohli
- Dhoni
- Nayar /YP
- Mishra / Bhajji
- RP/ Praveen
- Ishant
- Nehra

Think ODI cricket is a format too far for Yusuf Pathan. Laughably inept against the short ball.

Now Raina's gone for zero.

There's a link here- when they bowl a lot of overs, they don't score too many runs. The sooner the captain stops overbowling them, the better. Yuvraj was almost a regular bowler in New Zealand and his figures suffered- both batting and bowling. They should give it a thought.
Since when has 3 been a lot of overs?! 8-)

Utterly lethal against the other five balls in the over though. He's a really good number 7. You're focusing too much on what he can't do and not enough on what he can do, which is hit the ball miles at the end of an innings and bowl some more than useful overs in the field. India's Albie Morkel IMO.

Might struggle in the one ODI in twenty-eight that's played on a non-road these days, doesn't matter though.

Not if they are back of a length.

And bit of a luxury having a guy who can't bowl ten under the pretence that he may slog a few and unlike Albie he has no form of playing the match winner chasing role. India's Luke Wright IMO.

6 for Angelo!

Best option, imo:

Sachin Tendulkar
Dinesh Karthik
MS Dhoni
Yuvraj Singh
Virat Kohli
Suresh Raina
Yusuf Pathan
Harbhajan Singh
Amit Mishra
Ishant Sharma
A-**** Nehra

Luke Wright's worth his place too IMO, albeit in a very weak England side.

Pathan's been clubbing back-of-a-length balls to the boundary throughout his T20 career so I don't see why he can't do it at the death for India in ODIs. Has done it before tbf:

3rd ODI: Sri Lanka v India at Colombo (RPS), Feb 3, 2009 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

1st ODI: West Indies v India at Kingston, Jun 26, 2009 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

2nd ODI: India v England at Indore, Nov 17, 2008 | Cricket Scorecard | Cricinfo.com

Avg 26, SR 102 is exactly the type of player you want coming in at 7. And importantly, he can hit from ball one.

Scary. He only does well when Yuvraj tons up.

So the final is going to be held on Monday? Quite weird. Wouldn't it have been more logical to have held the the preliminary games on 8,10 and 11 with the final on the 13th. The only explanation I can think of is that they wanted to guarantee a Sri Lanka game on a weekend though they were always likely to make it to the final and a day-night game on Friday would have drawn a good audience anyway.

This is one more of those win-the-toss-win-the-match ODIs, so there isn't much to take home from it. The Indians were always the beneficiaries in the last two bilateral series before this one, and now they're the victims. There's not much they can do when the pitch is flat and easy when they're fielding, and then cracks and holds up when they come out to bat. All they can do is plan, prepare and be innovative, but planning, preparation and innovation seem way beyond Dhoni's methods- if it isn't broken, don't fix it even if it breaks tomorrow.

The Indian players were playing in some sort of mercantile tourny in India.

That's the reason India ended up with back to back games, the BCCI wanted an extra day of rest for the Indians on the 11th.
