Hah, just read the fox report on what he offered as an excuse, so pathetic. Disappointed tbh, thought he was better than that.

Ablett wins AFL PA MVP award for the 3rd year straight!

Ablett awarded a third players' association MVP - RFNews - theage.com.au

Not as prestigious, but in reality, means more than a Brownlow.
Riewoldt did bizarrely poorly in the polling however. It's a toss up as to whether he or Ablett are the MVP and not saying that Gary Jnr didn't deserve to win it, but not sure how not only did Swan and Judd beat Nick, but all three almost doubled his votes. Johnno Brown not getting more votes is also crazy.

Also shares the same flaw as the Brownlow in not taking performances in finals into account, when in reality they should probably count for double when rating a player.

Agree regarding Riewoldt. He was the MVP this year, or at least second behind Ablett. He won the award in 2004 so it would have been cool for him to win it again 5 years later.

Don't agree regarding finals really, because players are then disadvantaged if they're surrounded by **** players. There have been years (Crawford in 99) where he was clearly the best player, but his team didn't make finals.

Have a separate MVP/Brownlow sort of award for the best player of finals separately, like the NBA does.

lol, pretty gutted but probably the most expendable of the better players on our list, got Thompson, Grima and Hansen down back now. Pick 9 or I hope he doesn't mind training at Casey.

What team is going to bend backwards to get him in the first place? Can't see a Melbourne team taking him; reckon at worst Fremantle to take over from Grover.

Straight swap, Tarrant for Gibson?

Hawthorn have apparently offered him a 3 year deal for 800K. Heard they were interested before.

TBH I wasn't that bothered about him being traded before this news (don't think he would have walked out if Hawthorn weren't offering him owt) he's not necessarily going to be in our 22 going forward but would have been a solid depth player. Proved he's not a midfielder this year and as Hoggy said, we have solid options down back now.

Put me on suicide watch boys, Lloyd to Collingwood?
Why on Earth would we do that. It's not like we're lacking in tall forward options, or that Lloyd is on anything other than his last year as a player (with a few games of suspension left to serve anyhow).

As if he'd ever do it anyway.

Was thinking today, if you could have two out of the three of J. Brown, Riewoldt and Fevola, which would you take?

Brown and Riewoldt by fifteen streets.

The idea that the Coleman Medal winner should automatically be the All-Australian FF is absolute rubbish, by the way.

Riewoldt easily, put him in any bottom 8 side and they'd be playing finals imo. Brown similarly so but not as good, Fev's a gun but needs a good side around him.
