p.s. there is zero hype, obviously, but there should be. If Prior gets dropped by England, Hodd will make a fine keeper for another lucky county.

And there goes the glove bearer. Even if Read wanted a rest, might as well have played a proper keeper.

5 down for 73, good catch by Kirtley at leg thingumy and without wishing to sound too much like an Aussie fanboy going into the decisive final Test at the Oval, I think we've got this one in the bag now

edit - 6 down

edit - 7 down, a hat-trick and a quadruple wicket maiden for Dwayne Smith

And they've still got Chawla in reserve.

Not much of a night for O'Brien, he didn't even get a bowl.

Spell of 5-0 from Dwayne. The man was much mocked when we signed him, but he's been an amazing one-day player for us. He has a serious talent as a batsman, as a bowler and as an electrifying fielder. I've seen some pretty ordinary hat-tricks before, but this one was the product of a series of terrific wicket-taking balls.

Fat Sam's playing a strange hand here. Must've refused half-a-dozen singles.

EDIT: What's Dwayne's status for next season? He a Kolpak?

Yes, you can see why he would want to dominate the strike, but Carter doesn't look a complete mug, and Notts need eight an over.

And there goes Patel, making it just a matter of time now.

Yes he is - and I think for next season too.

BTW here are Smith's Pro-40 stats for the season so far:
Batting average 42, strike rate 168
Bowling average 14.78
