Shock news: rain stops play in Manchester. Pity, if we got a full game in we could have been in with a chance of a much-needed victory.
Seriously, I don't know how on earth they got any play in yesterday, it **** it down all day. Been lots of **** on and off showers this morning, nothing that heavy but probably enough to keep them off.

200 for Chris Rodgers, Derby take their lead past 50 with nine wickets in hand.

Worcs batting as if they're already resigned to relegation.

And in a shock move, Surrey bowler takes wicket, Herath getting Alex Gidman caught attempting to reverse sweep for 176. Just the 270 behind then.

Hamish Marshall's golden run with the ball is getting a bit silly now. Currently has three wickets of thirteen overs and given away a mere twenty runs.

He must have taken over fifteen wickets in the past couple of weeks.

Essex look in pretty good shape here.

There seems to have been quite a lot of these games in this year's Pro40, where everything goes perfectly to plan for the side batting first then the other team end up chasing the score down comfortably anyway. Pitches must be holding up pretty well.

Think Stumpski gave the stat that all of Ali Cook's one day hundreds have been televised. Well his closing in on number four this evening, back-to-back as well.

Given England still have six more ODI's to play, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cook in the side come the end. Has the 'familiarity' advantage over Davies and is a tried and tested failure, which always helps. Seems to be sporting a new technique as well.

Indeed, it's encouraging that he's clearly realising there's a problem with his game and he's trying to do something about it.

At least Cook has decent domestic stats, unlike pretty much everyone that gets picked (think he averages comfortably over 40 for Essex) which means hes actually probably less likely to get picked again (IIRC when he first got picked for ODI's he'd barely played a OD game for Essex)

Yeh, just a shame it's taken him about 3 years to finally correct it. Does look good out there. Scoring at a good rate and doesn't look anywhere near as awful outside off-stump. Been impressive to see him score successive OD hundreds. A few sixes to his name as well, don't see that from Cooky often.

Regarding Cook's stats for Essex. In List A cricket he averages 42 with 2 hundreds and 6 fifties, and is set to make it 3 hundreds. They're not bad figures at all, very good in fact.

True that. Think when he made his ODI debut, he played maybe ten List A games for Essex. Biggest concern with Cook, is can England afford to have him and Strauss playing together in the same side? They lost the game on Friday because they lacked hitters in the top six, Cook won't amend that.

And even in this game it has been the innings of Napier and Foster which will possibly get Essex over the line. Cook has dropped anchor but he has been allowed to, as he isn't scoring at a rate which threatens Durham.

I don't think we could play both of them, it'd have to be one or the other. I wouldn't throw Ali into the ODi side yet though. His problem when he first came in was having not played enough List A cricket, so I'd give him more time to develop his game to OD cricket even more. I'd certainly take Davies and Trott ahead of him.

Five in a row... come on Foster!

Edit: Borthwick sends down 4 wides to deny him the sixth... shame!

Nah they lost because their proper batsmen scored too slowly and didn't go on, carrying dead weight like Prior doesn't help either.
