Haha yeah this is a good point. Denly was a terrible pick but he's better than Wright. Should just be Strauss and Bopara, probably won't be though.
I saw both Wright and Denly bat for England at Stormont last week. Trust me, Wright's the option. Every single time.

Clarke says he didn't score runs in the final test because he couldn't use the indoor bowling machine.

"I used the bowling machine in the indoor nets as part of my preparation throughout the whole Test series, and I guess it's no coincidence why I didn't make any runs here. It was a bit of my preparation that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to do."

I agree with Boycott about these stupid warm-up/warm-downs playing football. He said he refused or would refuse to do them because of the potential for getting injured. It's ridiculous, I know it only happens every few months that someone does get injured from pissing about like that - but these are totally needless injuries and can have a big effect.
Pretty sure Boycott would've been injured had he played football before a test. His teammates would've been lining up to kick lumps outta him.

Agree totally tho, our injury record is shocking generally and stuff like this can't help.

Excerpt from a discussion before a district representative U11 game last month:

Me: Right guys, this is our warmup [explains game involving throwing/catching to pass the ball between team mates ending with a throw a set of stumps]
Kid: Can't we play football for a warmup
Me: No, there's no point: it doesn't practice cricket skills
Kid: England do it as a warmup
Me: I don't care, we're not doing it, it's a waste of time. Someone'll get injured, anwyay.

Yeah, I used to run (honestly!!) track, road & cross country until I was 17/18. In training, our coaches always used to rant and rave about anyone who played football as well. THINK OF THE ANKLES they'd say. Or something.

Nasser was funny tonight on Sky. He said he'd told Duncan Fletcher he didn't want messing about at warm-up with ladders and cones and all that stuff. Apparently Fletcher then went to see what they did at Man Utd, say they did the same stuff, and came back and told Hussain to get on with it.

Nasser also said they'd banned football because people got a bit over-enthusiastic and they got lots of little niggly injuries as a result of it.

Nah, just consistent. (face)

Really hoping it doesn't rain tonight, for Brax if nothing else.

Interesting to see what XI we play with today, got a lot of fast bowling options and the middle order too is far from settled, anyways this is the XI that should play:

1.T.Paine+
2.S.Watson
3.C.Ferguson
4.M.Clarke*
5.A.Voges/C.White
6.M.Hussey
7.J.Hopes
8.M.Johnson
9.B.Lee
10.N.Hauritz
11.N.Bracken

Does Paine open at domestic level?

IMO Cam White needs a chance at 4 or 5 before being written off as an ODI player. I'd have Clarke at 3 as well.

Yeah, not a fan of soccer as a warm-up. We play a bit of touch rugby, by-product of having a New South Welshman as a coach.
