Nice collapse from Surrey, went from 102 for 1 to 127 for 5. Meaker now up to 7 in the batting order and Herath is playing.

 This a joke?

Their batting is held together by three thirty-something overseas players (35, 35, 35), two of whom did little or nothing on the international stage and their 'star' all-rounder was exposed playing for England. Only got a fast bowling attack.

At Chester-le-Street their bowling attack is better than anyone else's, and the team with the better bowling attack generally wins.

Di Venuto and Benkenstein would be good enough to make lower Test side XIs. Then there's Collingwood and Chanderpaul who *are* in a Test XI. Other than that you'd have someone like Will Smith who's probably the weak link, Blackwell who has probably improved a lot since before and is better in FC cricket anyway. Mustard has improved a lot and has a pretty good record in FC cricket this season. And then you've got four seamers: Harmison, Onions, Thorp and Davies - or throw in Plunkett/Claydon.

Would reckon they would rank above West Indies, New Zealand and Bangladesh.

Very restrained - I hate to say it but they're a bit special this Durham team - can't see them getting knocked off the top for a while - Slurrey's seven on the trot might be under threat

Well it only takes a bit of bad luck with weather and someone like Mendis playing a few games and taking 10-10 each innings for Durham to be overtaken in future seasons..

Probably but just thought Uppercut took it a wee bit too far with suggesting only South Africa could give them a game.

Hoping this will happen next year although there is a very good chance that he will have to be bowling out division two sides next year.

Hants going ok here, Lumb in very good form at the moment. hoping Vince goes well.

I meant only South Africa would be too good for them to give a game :).

I reckon India and Australia would struggle, particularly on an early-season Chester-le-Street pitch.

Encouraging to see that Cook is attempting to change his technique in this pro40 game, standing much more straight on with the Goochesque bat raise. It might not work for him but he has at least admitted there's been a problem with his technique.

100 at a run a ball for Cook, only his third in all List A cricket. Interesting to hear that all three have been in televised games.

Ton at a run a ball. Been impressive.

&, obviously, televised runs count double.

EDIT: As Stumps just said. Nasser stole his line about replacing Denly too, as it goes...
