The second highest score was 37 and he scored over 60% of his sides runs. Come on.
If someone else stuck around they probably would have played a few more of the balls giving him less of the strike, wasn't like the pitch wasn't sublime for batting on. Just crap batting by everyone but him.

I disagree with this, too much played into his favor for a knock like this.

-the batting conditions
-the opposing bowlers
-his own teammates poor batting

If Jayasuriya or Anwar or Tendulkar or Lara or anyone else were given this scenario then I'd say the same result could come out. While in a game with tougher conditions, bowlers and better teammates it would be as unattainable as it has proven to be.
Jaya had his chance on numerous occasions. Last time...

The record deserves to be broken by whoever plays well enough to break it. If Coventry had made those last 6 runs, then he'd be a deserving record holder.
Yeah, it amazing how people would not appreciate what Coventry has achieved here, there have been lot of ODI's played since Anwar set that record, but no batsman was able to equal that record till now, so indeed this is a special effort from Coventry.

Ha ha ha thats pure foolishness. Then every record is to be blamed.

Yuvi's 6 sixes in T20 Wc:
- No other batsman came on strike
- Broad was bowling bad
- Pitch was good
- wind was batsman fav etc etc

Anil Kumble's 10 Wkts against Pak:
- No other bowler couldn't take even a single wkt
- Pak batsmen couldn't give away their wkt to anyother bowler
etc etc etc...

Thats so funny!

Yeah no doubt that this was one of the finest knocks in ODI history, well done to the guy. His team fell apart around him and he managed to stick it to one of the best spin bowlers in the world.

Also a pretty emphatic way to score your maiden ODI ton and your second List A ton.

I doubt I'm the only one who feels records made against minnows are less praise worthy than those made against the top teams.
Bangaldesh, in ODIs, cannot be called worthless minnows. They are still weak team, but surely capable of holding their own in the big league.

None of those records are even similar to this?

Six sixes is all about maintaining the strike, nor was it the first time this occurred, nor was it in an ODI, nor was Broad's bowling THAT bad.

Kumble's effort was brilliant, and he was bowling which as you may know isn't the same as batting.

Didn't call them worthless, Bangers are my second favorite team. They just aren't in the same league as the other top 8. Will be more and more competitive as this team grows up though.

Haha what? In terms of my support England, India and Pakistan are at the bottom of the barrel and Bangladesh are second only to NZ. I'm just realistic about how good my boys actually are.

Broad missed his length six times and was duly punished. It was a terrible over from a guy who shouldn't have been playing international cricket at the time.

Athlai's the last person to under-estimate Bangladesh TBH; I find the gang-warfare attacks on him a little odd here. I actually agree with everything he's said. A very fine knock from Coventry indeed - one of the best ever - but not circumstances particularly befitting of a record as such. I don't suppose we'll ever actually get a record without such circumstances anyway as you need a hell of a lot if your favour to score 200 in an ODI.
