Can someone point me to the rulebook that Phil Gould reads so I can shove it up his arse. He's a ******* joke, some Parra centre puts a grubber between Mullen and Sau and runs through the gap between them to score. Gould then goes into a rant saying how one of the two should have stopped him from running in to score.

WELL **** ME GUS BUT IT'S ILLEGAL TO TAKE OUT OR IMPEDE AN OPPOSITION PLAYER IF THEY DO NOT HAVE THE BALL.

But no Gus wants one of them to take him out giving away a penalty and more than likely get binned. If he wants the rules changed then run for President of the ARL/NRL yourself you fat bastard instead of bitching and moaning every time something you don't like happens.

On another note, Parra playing well, Newie, not so much. Have no idea how Smith is still coach tbh. Should send him to Sydney via cannon fire now.

Would imagine Smith would be entitled to some sort of pay out if he was sacked now and my understanding is that Newcastle aren't in a position to be just giving away money no matter how small ther ammount is.

Yeah can't see the Knights turning their season back around from here unfortunately. Started off so promising, and even kept it up through a run of injuries. But the instant it was announced Smith wouldn't be there next season I just knew it'd be downhill from there :(

Seriously how can you blame the coach though?? They were in the perfect position to have a real crack this year and the players have just packed it in...

The table is a bit of a joke. After today only 3 points will separate 5th from 12th. And hopefully after tomorrow night only two points will separate 5th from 11th. The 8 is far from settled. And wins will be very important in the last four rounds. I think the top 4 is all but settled. And all four of those teams will be tough to beat in the first week of the finals.

Don't recall saying it was Smiths fault, just that as soon as his departure was announced it was only going downhill from there. Obviously the players are the ones out there not putting in, but you don't have to be einstein to figure out that Smiths decision will have obviously affected them in some way given that he was responsible for bringing half of that team to Newcastle.

Knights are/were a good side, I still think its a case of they were over achieving at the start of the year. Almost everyone thought they'd finish somewhere from 6th to 12th, thats what will happen, just seems to be they won their share of games earlier and have lost a lot later in the season.

It's still no excuse. Brisbane knew at the start of last season that Bennett was leaving, and most of those players had only been coached by Bennett. Yet Brisbane were 30 seconds from the preliminary final.

I guess it's harder though for Newcastle as they don't have a coach announced for next year, so they're not exactly sure who they're playing for next season, but it's still a pretty poor effort.

 pretty obvious what you've said, especially this line. :)

Haven't been any real upsets so far though. Only really Manly vs Souths.
I did tip Souths to win. When I was at school and we did tipping comps, people who were one point ahead of me, used to tip the same as me no matter what so that it would be impossible to pass them nobody whether or not I got any right or wrong.

Geez the season starts to wear a bit thin at this point.

Tell me how you need 26 weeks to whittle 16 teams down to 8. While you only need 5 weeks to whittle down 8 teams to your eventual premier!

Seems a touch out of kilter - a dreadfully protracted season.

Agree, 22 rounds is ideal, but I dont think we'll see the shortening of the season with this many teams. Fox would want more games, so maybe if they go to 18 teams and have an extra game every week we might get it shortened.
