He might be a smart arse little punk, but how good is Jarryd Hayne!

Easily the best back in the world at present.

Just reduce the top 8.
As in to a top 5? Wouldn't happen in this day and age again because the finals are a huge money spinner, at the moment there are 9 finals matches, in a top 5 system there are 6, dont think the NRL would enjoy having 33% less finals matches.

He's going brilliantly, isn't he?

Would have loved to have had a lazy ton on him for the Dally M in about May.

But this is so frustrating for a Parra fan. There were matches earlier this year where you could see blokes not putting in. Now they're what, one point out of the eight, having lost to each of the Roosters and the Sharks this year, and having drawn with Souths when the latter were playing like ****.

Now they're playing like supermen. ****ing ****s.

While on the subject of Parramatta I want to mention how good I reckon Grothe is going this year, his career was pretty much done and dusted last year and he seems to be really putting in now, good enough imo.

I hope they change the finals system as well.

Jeez this has been low so far, warming up a bit now.

Has there ever been a worse start to a game than one team letting the kick off bounce dead and the other then knocking on the ensuing drop out?

Man...what a (s)crappy game against eh Sharks. Good thing we were playing them, otherwise the result could have been much different. Pleasing to see our defense care this week, and Wallace had a blinder.

Hopefully we can improve on that effort and give it to the Panthers.

The Broncos played well tonight, and of course a major improvement on the effort of the past month or so. It is still difficult to determine where they are at, because the Sharks were not at full strength.

Anyway, as a Souths supporter, it was great to see Dave Taylor playing so well.

They played far from well. They looked like premiership favourites compared to their performance last week. I just fell the same performance against a Dragons or Bulldogs wouldn't have been as successful. We improved in a lot of areas. Our goaline defense was awesome and we were busting through tackles a fair bit, so there is a lot to build on. Fairly confident we can knock off the Panthers Sunday, but will need to tighten things up and gain a lot more confidence if we are to over come the Dragons on their turf.

I'd pick that apart but as I haven't seen the last 2 weeks worth of games I'm not comfortable doing so. Needless to say I don't think the Broncos will be beating a team that's actually competetive judging by the reports of their recent games. Beating the Sharks in what was by all reports a dire game wouldn't fill me with confidence in beating a top 8 team, let alone even getting remotely close to the Dragons in a fortnight.

Panthers by 12

This calls for an avatar bet.

CW Tipping Ladder

  1. Clapo 98.05
  2. NUFAN 97.04
  3. Prince EWS 97.04
  4. Brumby 97.03
  5. luffy 95.05
  6. Tozzer 95.03
  7. Craig 95.03
  8. ripper888 95.02

  16. James90 86.01
  17. MorgieB 86.01
  18. Simon 83.02
  19. Pinchy 82.02

7 was the popular number this week, as only 2 people were game enough to tip Souths over Manly (Craig and 99*). NUFAN and I only scored 6 at the top, allowing PEWS and Brumby to close in within a point of the lead, and draw level with NUFAN. With just 4 rounds to go, those within 3/4 points are still with a chance. That being said, you'd imagine the winner will come from one of the top 4, as there's a 2 point gap back to the next group who are moving into having to tip upsets territory.

I've gone through the next four rounds of the NRL, and make the following bold prediction for the final 8. (in this order)

1. Dragons
2. Bulldogs
3. Storm
4. Titans
5. Souths
6. Cowboys
7. Sea Eagles
8. Knights

The remaining teams (again a bold prediction)
9. Eels
10. Tigers
11. Broncos
12. Panthers
13. Warriors
14. Raiders
15. Sharks
16. Roosters

Of course this will not eventuate, because I am just on 70% accurate in the footy tipping comp and also a mad Souths supporter...but it was fun doing it.
