On a random note, apparently my little town in cornwall today was flooded with Japanese and German wrestlers out of nowhere. There was a wrestling show on not far from here. Pretty gutted I only found out about it 15 minutes before doors opened, would definitely have gone if I'd have known there were gonna be some Japanese guys there, have always wanted to see the stiff-style japanese stuff live.
Dude I never knew you were from Cornwall, which part do you live in? I spend a fair bit of time down in the Penzance, St Just sort of area every now and again.

Interesting interview from Hardcore Holly (wac), not sure what it is he has against Mr Kennedy, obviously not his biggest fan.

On the future of WWE: "Yeah, there’s nobody there who has the dedication, the focus, the ability to tell a story – at least not at the level that they need to move into the upper level. Even if they did, they’d still have to deal with the current group of guys at the top anyway and I don’t see them moving for a while. John Morrison, for example, he’s good but it’s too early. He’s stuck at a level and he’s good where he is but he needs to focus and learn from the older guys to really click at the top level.”

On Ken Anderson, formerly known as Mr. Kennedy: “That mother----er… he’s a dead man walking. I told VPW (indy promotion) that if they get him on their show, I’ll not only work for free but I’ll fly myself in too. If I ever see him again, I’m going to jail, that’s all there is to it.”

Why WWE didn’t do anything with him: “I have no idea. It’s something that Jericho would say to me often, he’d say he didn’t have a clue why they couldn’t use me more. I’ve been in the business for twenty years, I know how to tell a story, I’m safe to work with and the boys respect me but I guess they just don’t want to put over some people. Hell, even ‘Taker went to Vince to ask about doing an extended program with me but Vince shot the idea down.”

Yeah, dire bloke imo, not the worst worker in the world, but not a good one either. I always thought it was stupid how he was called "Hardcore", when in fact he was one of the least Hardcore wrestlers I have ever seen. The way he ended up with a broken neck in the incident with Brock Lesnar not only made me laugh, but confirmed what an utter douche he is.

Always remember one particular skit involving him, it was during the Invasion storyline, and they showed him inside WWF New York signing autographs for fans, and then a guy wearing a WCW shirt came up and asked for one, and Holly just beat the crap out of him. Nice one Bob, beating up teenagers, way to make yourself look like a badass.

Also remember a short lived feud between him and William Regal, in which Regal spent the whole time making jokes about Holly being from Alabama and thus having relations with various farm animals, bit of a gun is Regal, wonder why he hasn't been on TV for a while, presumably Wellness violation.

I'm sure I saw Regal on ECW last time I watched it, which was about one or two weeks ago?

RE Holly, found it interesting that he said, "I'm safe to work with," given that he was renowned for working stiff.

I always had a great deal of time for Bob Holly because he had that "I could beat the **** out of you where you stand look" look. That and his program with Lesnar was actually very entertaining - I remember him coming to the ring in jeans and armed with a chair (I think) and the mark inside me thinking he could take Lesnar at the Rumble. I don't like to make comments about people backstage because so much of the internet "journalism" is unreliable or just carbon copied from the Observer that I really have no idea, but surely that InVasion thing was such a work?

In any event, much of the Kennedy stuff would piss off those in the WWE and Holly, a WWE guy through and through, would obviously be disappointed. What I don't get is that unless the WWE had planned to just ignore it, surely he left in circumstances he was getting a big program. Cody Rhodes turned on him and we never saw him again? Odd. That being said, he's right in the fact that the veterans can offer a lot more than just jobbing in one-off matches to new guys. It is a reflection on one of the real problems with the writing staff is that they really don't know how to debut new people outside of feeding them jobbers. It is completely boring television.

Oh yeah the Invasion thing was definitely a work, it just struck me as being entirely stupid that's all.

And completely agree about the writing staff debuting new talent, clueless really.

On August 22nd, Brian Kendrick will face Bryan Danielson at the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event in Reseda, CA.
Wish that was going out on broadcast TV, would love to watch it.

Holly had a gimmick which suited him down to the ground, but it was always a gimmick which would never get him truly over and he had a complete inability to do anything else. Why didn't WWE do something with him? Because it's a pointless excercise, he'd take them nowhere.

Major lol at wrestlers loving to work with him, ask Matt Capotelli who he concussed by working stiff amongst others. Heh @ the thought of Taker going into Vince's office and demanding to do a program with Holly. Would've loved to see Vince's reaction to that.

WWE has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Ricky Ortiz as of today, Aug. 8, 2009. We wish Ricky the best in all future endeavors.
Was never much a fan of the guy, but shame to see another young talent shown the door.

I wasn't a fan either but yeah always sad when a young talent gets let go. It's been pretty quiet as of late in terms of news. I don't know about you all but I'm quite looking forward to Summerslam. CM Punk vs Jeff Hardy in a TLC match should be quite the match.

Also hoping they go for Christian vs Shelton Benjamin personally for the ECW Championship match. If they allowed Christian and Shelton to have a match for 15 to 20 mins, it could be one of the matches of the night.

Yeah, i'm quite looking forward to Summerslam as well actually, looks like it could well be a decent show. I think it's a shame they had to make the Hardy/Punk match a TLC though, I would have rather let them just had one more singles match with no gimmicks and be told to go out and there and cut loose and have the best match possible, esspecially seeing as it is rumoured to be Jeff Hardy's last match for the company.

Argh so annoyed, thought I had all of last week's wrestling on my Sky+ box and just set myself for the evening to watch them. Turns out they fall failed, oh dear

Spoilers below....

-Sgt. Slaughter is out to thunderous indifference, but he starts to suck up to the crowd by saying he's proud to be in Canada. He wants to have a salute to the flag, but then puts an X over it. He says when he thought about it if it wasn't for Old Uncle Sam they'd all be speaking Russian and French right now. TREMENDOUS!!! He says these maggots all take US Protection for granted, and then demands each and every one of them to stand up and pay their respects to the greatest country in the world. He then leads the crowd in a stirring rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance. Preach on Sarge! Heel Slaughter for the night? Works for me.
Haha **** me that sounds great, an improvement on last week at any rate.

Main event of Jericho v Cena also a major improvement, great reaction from the crowd for Jericho as well, top stuff.

May even consider watching some this week.
