BARNES OUT
should never play again based on what he has done so far is to forget how young he is and that he could be a lot better and a good player in the future.
No one (as far as I can see) has said that.

What I find odd is that everyone seems to say something along the lines of "he's still learning, let him develop" or something along those lines. Since when are you not able to learn the game in first class cricket?

You'll Never Walk Alone
Missing Sarfraz so much here. Would love some control when Hilfenhaus isn't bowling.

As much as I heart Siddle, surely he must depart for Clark.

And Hauritz out for Crayfish. (face)

Athlai

Not Terrible
And all this bollocks about Broad being a good player in the future is rubbish. This is the Ashes England want to win this now, play your best XI. If he doesn't deserve to be in the team on his current merits than you don't put him in the team for the big one.

To be fair, I don't think Freddie walks all that often. Which is bang on. A batsman should never walk.
Wat? It went to 1st slip mate!!!

FMD if that was Michael Clarke half of India would wake up and inundate this thread with vitriol.

I have no idea, but if there's no one in two divisions of county cricket worth trying above a guy bowling pies and with a horrendous set of statistics, I am seriously overestimating the current state of English cricket.

I wish the Aussie bowlers would string together more than a few overs of good bowling. I caught them at a good time when I tuned in.

I hope Clark is prepared to get his knees dirty in between matches to get himself back in the team.

Yep agree on that. Although with Broad in the 5 first-class matches he has played for Notts in the last two years (a shockingly low number in my opinion but that's another story) he took 24 wickets at 20.83. So maybe in an alternate reality where the selectors had any sense we would now be talking up this young bowler Broad who is doing well in County Cricket and on the verge of a test debut. Of course has he learnt quicker by playing at the highest level at a young age or has it ******** his development by being thrown in at the deep end? We'll never know I guess.

Ouch, that wont be a popular comment on here.
what GIMH might bite me?...lol....judging from his photos...I'll take that pepsi challenge everyday of the week. Anyways reasonable for us, but hate to see us bat in this last session, can see Australia being 3 or 4 down for not much TBH. And Freddie batted very well for all you precious lads

I think siddle is done after that (atleast I hope he is). Can;t help but feel though that big Merv the selector has a soft spot for a young victorian who may remind him of himself a bit.

True

Dont really get all the Freddie love

He's a good (not very good let alone great) test cricketer that has produced a few isolated tremendous performances and whose behaviour away from the park is generally poor

Fun fact- Stuart Broad's bowling average currently stands at 40.04. Steve Harmison, in the seven tests he's played since Broad's debut, has taken 16 wickets @ 44.12.

I've no problem with him being dropped. 40.04 isn't good enough. But first, someone has to find a replacement.

Been interesting to see Siddle on this tour compared with at home and in SA. In those series he still had the aggresson but was more controlled. Wonder if he's just got a bit too caught up in the hype of the Ashes and is trying too hard.
Be intersting to see where he is after another 20 odd tests.
