Day's getting better and better with North and Clarke amongst it, Rashid being a legspinning Hauritz and most of all that ****wit Murray down two sets to one v Roddick.

You absolute ****. :(

EDIT: Actually this is unfair. No person with anything resembling sanity would think Nine would be stupid enough to broadcast the tennis on a couple of hour delay just so they could broadcast another ****ing Jennifer Aniston film.

Cue inbox comment on how North is a classless hack.

So much pressure on big Marcus, and churns out this knock. WAG.

Oh ****, sorry mate. Genuinely didn't think they'd do that - they cut straight to Fed's match live post-NRL here.

No deliberate spoil on my part there, rest assured.

North's ton & wicket means the Oz selectors' job's done for them, surely?

Playing Hauritz now would be flat out daft.

England aren't relied on him, he's only playing as a 4th seamer and he's handy with the bat.

Broad's performance will most likely be overshadowed by Anderson, 2nd seamer & Freddie.

Also where do Aussie go with Hauritz if he does fail in the Ashes? Can they really play without a spinner or go back to Krejza/Mcgain?
Get all First Class spinners standing in a circle, get one of the Australian selectors and blindfold him, spin him round and whoever he ends up pointing at gets the gig.

Has infinitely more logic and credibility to it than whatever selection method they've used up until now. Since Warne retired, I don't think they've gone into consecutive series with the same spinner.

I think Hauritz is an OD bowler and that's the format they should stick with him for now, and maybe if he gets to play FC cricket for NSW and if improves his bowling, then he should be considered for the future.

As for test cricket, Krezja looks like the best bet, whenever Australia play away from home he should be picked in the team, likes of Jon Holland and Cullen Bailey too might throw in their name in the ring, if they perform decently this season.

Moving on, was pretty impressed with the batting of both Clarke and North, Northy really needed to get some runs under his belt before the first test, in order to boost his confidence, and he did that quite well, as for Clarke, he just played beautifully yesterday, his timing in particular on a slow pitch was top notch ,and he seems to be in fine touch so far on this tour, which is a good sign for the team.

Lol at Clarke getting out a couple of overs before stumps  Really high quality knock from him though, right from ball one.

North's first two and a half hours at the crease were really quite painful, but he somehow managed to stick in there and began to find some form which hopefully he'll take with him to the first Test.

Really sedate start to things. Hoepfully liven up a tad when the new ball's due in an over or two.

Wouldn't blame Oz to settle for some batting practice tho as all their selectorial issues seem sorted now.

Anyone else noticed the resemblance between Stephen Moore and 'Wee Man' from Jackass?

Anyway, how long will Australia bat for do you reckon? I'd have thought Ponting would want to get as much bowling for Clark and Johnson as he can, so would declare either late in this session, or at lunch. Would probably be handy to see how Hauritz does on a 4th day pitch as well, see if he can get anymore out of the pitch than Rashid did.

Reckon it'll be lunch or just before if they fancy a couple of goes with the new pill.

Pitch looks even deader if that's possible.

He'll want a little more work for Johnners I reckon, just to ice the preparatory cake. Another look at Haurie too, just in case.
North batting really well now. Only Ponting and Hughes haven't scored here, and they got a few last week.

Fingers crossed. Some good signs for us out of this.

The bowlers have had a pretty good work out already, can't really see the need for them having more than a session. Would rather Haddin gets some more time with the bat, tbph.

Yeah same, which is why it was slightly surprising that Hussey batted ahead of Haddin in this innings.

Hmmm, although the way Haddin plays, if he bats for 3 hours they'd be that far ahead hed have no choice but to declare early.
Edit: Huss retires! It's 1921 all over again!

Would be good for Haddin to have another hit, but after those two drops it might be better for him to have some extra fielding time...
