Haas is seeded now (24) after Monfils pulls out. Beleive there is nothing they can do about Montañés being seeded, its the top 32 that get seeded and he's ranked 34 with 2 players out previously injured.

Yeah, but we all know that Wimbledon takes into account the last 2 years of grass court results, and if you make the semis the previous year, naturally you have to be seeded.

Hope he does well in his last Wimbledon. :)

If i'm reading it right tho for the men it only comes into effect if you are actually in the top 32 ranked players already. For the women its different, hence Sharapova is seeded.

From 2001, 32 players have been seeded in the Gentlemen’s and Ladies' Singles. These are the top 32 players on the ATP Entry System Position (ESP) and the WTA Tour ranking. The former list is arranged on a surface-based system to reflect more accurately the individual player’s grass court achievement as per the following formula:

ESP points as at a week before The Championships
Add 100% points earned for all grass court tournaments in the past 12 months
Add 75% points earned for best grass court tournament in the 12 months before that.
For the Ladies, the seeding order follows the ranking list, except where in the opinion of the Committee, the grass court credentials of a particular player necessitates a change in the interest of achieving a balanced draw.

Nadal would have to be at long odds to compete. He lost an exhibition match to Hewitt last night in straight sets. No one who is serious about being a threat in a grand slam loses to Lleyton anymore.

Is that right? How does he go from what was 33rd on the list to 24 with one pull out? Until the draw is made they would all only go up one spot.

Provided he gets an OK draw, Hewitt will make it at least as far as the third or fourth round.

Because he enters the top 32, I assume they reshuffle again based on previous grass results.
From my understanding he was moved from 35 to 33 based on grass court events, but again that didnt seem right given his recent title.

Do you have a link? just interested thats all.

No two of the top 32 were already out injured, with the 3rd, he becomes part of the top 32 and then the grass weighting comes into effect

Can see a first round exit for Murray....he has a really easy draw really though, especially if Nadal is announcing his withdrawal aws
