I don't even understand what you're saying. It sounds to me like you just said that Harmison looked at his best when he'd had a sustained run in county cricket prior to playing international cricket, which hardly backs up your argument about the standard of county cricket being detrimental to the chances of players to succeed at a higher level.
Detrimental is too strong a word. But its proven that its a bit of odd indicator. County cricket has declined substantially since the 70s, England general inconsistent performances in tests over the past 30 years proves that.

Harmison's consistently poor performances can be attributed to a lack of mental toughness and desire to succeed, an inconsistent bowling action and a genuine dislike of long overseas tours away from his family. I don't blame the standard of county batsmen for any of these faults.
All that is very true about Harmo's mental issues, when he tours. But also a bowler like Harmison with his style of bowling also on tour on many of the flat surfaces outside of ENG, would always struggle.

It is no coincidence that Harmo was superb for Durham, got called up & looked sharp on a helpul Oval deck - then on some flat winter decks he looked average. Thats why i say that same thing could happen again this season vs AUS.

aussie, you could say that we shouldn't assume he would be a success in Test Cricket just because of his FC record, but what you are saying is just a little odd

But its not that straightforward. Under normal circumstances a man averaging 50 in FC really should be pushing for a test spot. But as i'm saying our FC system although the structure is solid the standard of cricket alot of the times is a bit poor.

International Captain
Just to clarify to the continuous knockers of Saj Mahmood, I am right in thinking he has 18 wickets in Division 1 of the County Championship at 21.11 doesn't he ? That's not that bad surely. I don't expect you all to throw your hands up and say how terribly wrong you got it just yet, but give it time.

His average is bound to be artificially low after he played on a pitch heavily favouring bowlers. He'll be back to averaging 30+ soon enough.

Durham batsmen continuing to do their thing of not going on to a substantial score

Leicestershire, what is the point?

Woakes doing well.

Luke Wright and Dwayne Smith are Sussex's 3rd and 4th seamers.
Good luck Chawla. His already got through 20 overs.

Harris batting at 6 for Glamorgan today for some reason.

Plenty of England players playing after their exit it seems, but no Jimmy A tomorrow

Tresco finally gets a ton, but then Chawla takes centre stage. Advantage Sussex now. Will be interested to see how the young leg-spinner Waller bowls on this pitch.

Blackie proving to be an inspired signing for the durhamers.

Another 5-fer for Pushy.

Another Trescothick century for Richard to explain away by reference to (a) lack of ability and (b) luck.

Wright and Smith as 3rd and 4th seamers needs to be seen in the context of Lewry's return (hooray!) and the various spinners available.

Pushy should consider moving to Australia.

1. He has age on his side and Australia can't rely on Bracken always
2. He is awesome in English conditions and that is panacea as far as Ashes are concerned.
3. Can bat
