***Official*** English Domestic Season 2009

Plenty of runs at Hove - Surrey needing 77 off 10.2 overs to overhaul Sussex's 319. Not sure why Stewart Walters is batting at 3 instead of Ramprakash, it's not a change that fills me with confidence.

Trescothick and Morgan putting on some massive centuries today. Franklin once again in the wickets as Yorkshire sinks.

just thinking there seemed to be a lot of youngsters getting a go this year...had a quick look at theres something like 35 players 21years old or younger that have played championship(ignoring UCCE//tour games) cricket this year so far, also not including non qualified or ambiguous players like Keisswetter and Jordan. Seems a lot more than in previous years and a good thing imo, don't know how many would have played if you looked at the relavent time last year?

The match at Canterbury is over with a comfortable win for Middlesex (did I hear Robert Croft call them "the '***" a while back?). But Sky are on air till 6.30 so hopefully they'll show some highlights for those of us just in from work.

Stunning comeback from Gloucs chasing Yorkshire's 217 - they were 107-6 but Franklin and Adshead have got them within 25 ... but why on earth hasn't Rashid bowled? Injured?

Had a look at this (slow day at work) and there ended up being 52 players who were under 22 at the start of the season that played at least one CC match during the year. 13 of these only played one game and a further 5 played 2. They played in total 284 games.

There looks to be a fair amount who will play more regularly this year so the total should be higher. Might look further back if im bored at work tomorrow as i reckon a few years ago the number would be much lower

Haha, Jeetan Patel with a century, thats awesome.

Someone shove that under the NZ medias nose, our domestic comp might not be great, but we got away without having Patel score a hundy. :p

Might go have a looksie on cricinfo to see whose doing what this season.

Not a good idea IMO. They already think Patel is infinitely better than every seamer in the country despite averaging 40 odd with the ball.. word of this ton might get them just enough ammunition to start comparing him with Jamie How and Tim McIntosh.
