Do you think Johan Botha's action is suspect?

Good point that, Uppercut.

This thread smells of witch hunt all over it
You got that right. If theres one thing worse than conspiracy theorists, its self-righteous conspiracy theorists. And this thread is chock full of it.

Yeah, it was an exaggeration. But more than half of those tested broke the rules.

I think Michael Holding has it spot on. Having been one of Murali's biggest critics, and part of the panel who conducted the study into chucking, he had this to say:
The funny thing is...I always thought throwing the ball involved bending and then straightening the arm, not just the arm straightening due to hyperextension etc during the action. Then again, I'm sure SS explained this to me ages ago and it made sense so...maybe all is well!

I'm not sure this is directly relevant to your post but I tend to think of hyperextension as a negative bend in the arm.

Does anybody also think this whole degree business sucks, as Holding points out, bowler with seemingly perfect actions have 11 to 12 degree flexes, so really is this 15 degree mark that has been set realisitic in any way.

I think ICC needs to be a bit more transparent with the implementation of laws regarding chucking, and comes up with rules that are practical to implement.

I think you'll find that 15 degrees is the point at which chucking becomes visible to the naked eye

In my opinion they need to totally get rid of any of the chucking laws all together, so guys like Murali and Botha can play without judgement and everyone is happy. You can't quantify something like a bowling action as it is a fluid movement that changes from ball to ball, so why bother trying to?. I think it would make for interesting times, especially in this era of total dominance from the batsman, better bats, smaller boundaries, etc. Might get some pitchers turning up, seeing as everything else in cricket is turning the way of baseball  .

I really hope he passes, one of my favourite players right now, they do seem to be really strict with it these days.

It's funny, i don't think his action has looked as bad in these games as it did in the matches in Australia. Apparently it's only particular deliveries though- the doosra and the quicker ball.

lets see you think kamran khan chucks after seeing one delivery of his and now you want a player who is reported by all the 3 umpires to pass because you "like" him-:-O

Well kind of, but I really do think Kamran Khan does chuck, and a fast bowler doesn't change his action much ball to ball. Botha's is apparently 2 of his variations, which tbh I haven't noticed so in my mind it's 50/50, and I hope he does pass!

Checking in match conditions is a must for all the bowlers .There should not be a law like ''cleared forever ''.It is a habit which can be repeated in deseperate situations in matches.

If Akhtar isn't considered a chucker, all bets are off. Might as well:

Oh wait, is that also "hyperextension"?
