Yeah, it was an exaggeration. But more than half of those tested broke the rules.

I think Michael Holding has it spot on. Having been one of Murali's biggest critics, and part of the panel who conducted the study into chucking, he had this to say:

I'm not sure this is directly relevant to your post but I tend to think of hyperextension as a negative bend in the arm.

Does anybody also think this whole degree business sucks, as Holding points out, bowler with seemingly perfect actions have 11 to 12 degree flexes, so really is this 15 degree mark that has been set realisitic in any way.

I think ICC needs to be a bit more transparent with the implementation of laws regarding chucking, and comes up with rules that are practical to implement.

I think you'll find that 15 degrees is the point at which chucking becomes visible to the naked eye

In my opinion they need to totally get rid of any of the chucking laws all together, so guys like Murali and Botha can play without judgement and everyone is happy. You can't quantify something like a bowling action as it is a fluid movement that changes from ball to ball, so why bother trying to?. I think it would make for interesting times, especially in this era of total dominance from the batsman, better bats, smaller boundaries, etc. Might get some pitchers turning up, seeing as everything else in cricket is turning the way of baseball .

It's funny, i don't think his action has looked as bad in these games as it did in the matches in Australia. Apparently it's only particular deliveries though- the doosra and the quicker ball.

Well kind of, but I really do think Kamran Khan does chuck, and a fast bowler doesn't change his action much ball to ball. Botha's is apparently 2 of his variations, which tbh I haven't noticed so in my mind it's 50/50, and I hope he does pass!
