Truth is, he wouldn't have gotten a first XI spot anywhere else anyway. He'd want to play FC cricket and only just broke back into the SA side so having to prove his formfitness all over again in QLD grade cricket before getting in the side probably wouldn't have been too appealing. SA have stuck with him because he's ridiculously talented. Doubt any other state would be as generous. Greater chance of winning a Shield in SA than in QLD yext year too, I reckon.

The good form of his peers in the side this year would probably spur him on. The side's starting to do well and national selectors have taken notice. He'd definitely want to be a part of that.

Hear the story about Watson every year. But it does look like with his spot in the Australian side harder to get, due to North. He can't just rely on playing for Australia all season and playing little domestic cricket. If he does plan on having a full domestic summer minus ODIs then the move to NSW where he lives would be smart.

Though it is funny how many players these days are moving states for their misses. Katich, Watson and Johnson. Pretty clear who runs the show at those houses.

Presumably Watto will move, now that NSW have officially approached.

Hopefully it'll be good for his cricket to be more settled. I can't imagine continually travelling back and forth to play for Queensland is particularly fun, given the amount of time these guys usually spend away from home he's just been adding to it.

NSW offically approach him every season about the move tbh. This is just the first time he said he will consider it.
No, I mean they've officially approached Queensland cricket to speak to him. Everyone completely denied that last year. Anyway, what he's quoted to have said seems pretty much like he'd made up his mind. Presumably it's a no-brainer really. He can move and still do his job, if his girlfriend moved to Brisbane she'd have to give hers up.

They don't have to approach Queensland, as he is an Australian contracted player. Even if he lost his contract, technically Queensland contract expired at the end of the season. Pretty sure they never even spoke to Queensland, or if they did they didn't have to. They may have to do the right thing. But there is no reason they have to talk to Queensland about it.

Well last year, they were frantically denying approaching him, saying they didn't want to be fined for going behind Queensland's back. So presumably there's some rules in place.

Edit: last year...

Always thought it was a free for all, when it came to Australian players. Though it might be something to do with the time of a the seasons. That was before the end of season, whereas now it is the end of the season and the Australian players are out of contract at state level.

AdelaideNow... Cosgrove wants to stay a Redback

Any comments? Would love to hear what you guys think of this..

Sure he put up some great end of season form with a first-class high score of 133 against Qld but how do you rate his consistency with the bat?

At this stage I believe that no decision has been made about his contract.
Pretty happy about this. Good decision cossie.

Keep the news coming about the Redbacks. Any news if there after any particulur players from other states?

QLD could really use a reliable batsman for next season. I'm not sure who though. Maybe pick up Paine? Obviously he wouldn't keep but if he wanted to focus on his batting it'd be a good move. Otherwise Blizzard might be a value pick.

Would be a real boon to pick up Jaques. QLD could really use someone of his calibre, and given he doesn't have too much of a chance of playing for Australia in the near future (barring injury) he would be there for most games.
