BARNES OUT
How have they managed not to praise him?
Cullinan and Jackman especially have rubbished his technique all series so far. Cullinan said after he was dismissed for 75 in the first test that he's surprised he's ever scored runs at any level (despite scoring mountains at EVERY level) or something of the sort. Just ridiculous.

Maybe it's time they looked at their own bowlers and the kind of tripe they've delivered to him on occasions.

BARNES OUT
Don't forget his apparent leg-side bias despite scoring over half his runs in the off-side.

Tell ya what, it's been rare a bloke has been so quickly identified as a danger to the opposition as Hughes has to the Saffies. He's hit them well but he's survived a really stern test too, plenty of chin music coming his way. Gutsy cricketer.

I just get the feeling what elevates him above the rest is that he never takes stuff for granted. Even in his technique he's always playing through the full arc of his shots all the way through his innings. Doesn't relax or slack off. Geez he looks good.
I reckon the Saffers just expect him to get out because of how bad he looks, and they've gotten caught up in that.

Yup for sure and it's understandable in some ways (though not from professionals, I guess). That bloke who beats you but looks ugly doing it and you feel like you're one good ball away from knocking him over, you always hate him so much more than the smooth operator who finesses his way through his innings.

Every time he plays a cut over the gully for four he says, "some day all of these will go to hand!" or the like.

Apart from the hopeless commentary, this has been so good.

Harris getting minimal turn, I mean, ripping them square.

He had a knee op so was unavailable for the Aussie tour and then I read where he got suspended playing for his domestic team. Didn't look that good on the English tour except for one spell early in the third test. I think he might be contemplating a county career.
