Plus the 99 at Melb, could be one away from Tendulkar if a few things went differently.

Hughes. Star.
Yeah, Sachins missed out on a few too. Ponting will pass him no doubt, I just hope it happens after the little champ retires as opposed to while they are still active players.

So whaddawe reckon; declare close to stumps and give them a stickey little period to deal with or grind em down?

Grind. Last thing Aus would want is for SA to snatch a miracle win. If this match, by some other miracle, is a draw, at least SA would have to win to retain the trophy in the 3rd Test.

I hope the opposite. I hope it happens while they're playing; one more thing in favour of Ponting.

I concur.

And btw, there's no chance of SA winning and only a remote weather-related chance of them drawing.

Why?

EDIT: Beaten.
Isn't it obvious?

You're 400+ runs ahead and there's 2 days and 20odd overs left - weather/bad light permitting.

God I can't wait for the day when Australia's fannying around arrogance comes backs to bite them in the arse. If you're going to keep giving the weather or exceptional batting a better chance to convert wins into draws then one day it will happen.

If both of two remaining days get washed out, as if anything the batters could have done would have made a difference anyway!

Besides, the RR for the entire innings is around 3.2 and was higher for a large portion of it. Hardly fannying about.
