Shootout in Lahore

People deal with tragic events in different ways. Who are you to judge.
People react differently. Doesn't mean every kind of reaction needs to be allowed. This isn't the first time. I have my own judgements and it is unacceptable according to me. You are free to judge my judgement as you feel fit.

What the heck. These guys are destroying the thread and no one is taking is any action despite Jack's initital post to stop the rubbish. A member of Voltman's experience in the forum shouldn't be allowed to troll the forum like this and it isn't the first time he has done it either. I have nothing against him personally as I feel he is a fairly ok poster but such a habit of laughing after every tragic event is unacceptable where I am concerned.

Cheers.
I'm sorry, but this is getting ridiculous. Voltman's posted 4 times in here and I've posted once since the initial outcry...I don't see anyone trolling. I don't think I just laughed at something that was off-kilter to be honest. Hoggy was joking with Voltman, and it wasn't in bad taste at what has happened.

Anyhoo guys, enough about me and my humour, I reckon. The moderators will take whatever action they feel appropriate (be that nothing, a warning or a banning) and I'm comfortable with that. No point filling up another page or two about it when they'll be making the decision.

I did hear something on the news about the fourth umpire?

Agree with this.

Guys I may be out of line by getting involved here, but I can't help but think that bickering amongst ourselves about who is reacting more appropriately is kind of cheapening the thread. Let's get a little perspective, let people react how they want to react, and ensure we keep focus on what's important here.

Yeah he got hurt too I think. Someone mentioned it on here, but I can't remember exactly what happened. In think he was being operated on.

Sorry Pratters, with Smitteh 100% here. Humour makes life worthwhile, you can't neglect it every time something bad happens. When I'm upset about something, there's nothing I appreciate more than someone making me chuckle.

Never mind about that though. Back on topic.

Last time I checked this was an open forum, meaning people can express their opinions in whichever way they want to, you or others might have found Volty's jokes unacceptable given the topic of discussion, but he posted what he felt like posting.

Tbh, the posters shouldn't go around with this moral policing and teach people how they should react in a certain situation, you can always have reservation over what a poster said, or be judgemental about him, but you can't demand him getting banned, just because of that.

There are plenty of good mods around here, and if they find anything offensive about Volty's or anyone else' posting, they would do their job, without even anyone making a noise about it.

Very good point. Should be the last word on the topic to be honest.

It is Voltman who made the noise with his post. His post was bound to get such reactions from people as we have seen, some one like masterblaster. This thread was already in shambles with Voltman's post and he always does it with any tragedy and the focus is shifted out of the tragedy. I find that disgusting.

I was just raising an eyebrow at an out-of-place analogy in a post that was intended to pan someone for being misinformed.
it's not particularly out of place - groups like the Shura Ittihad-ul-Mujahideen (the pakistani 'taleban') are the military arms of their respective political organisations. Their objectives are pretty self-evident.

Call me an idiot and tell me I'm not getting the point or reading posts, but how could they see that such a event was going to happen or not happen in the future? Nobody has a crystal ball and know what will happen. Yeah hindsight is a great thing isn't it?

As I said in the other thread, RIP and very tragic. Sport is now poorer as a result.
As Saggers suggested, most countries with a foreign affairs department and intelligence agencies worthy of the name have been suggesting that visitors to Pakistan run the risk of becoming caught up in the violence that is becoming more and more of a problem there. It's everyone's individual decision how much they want to avoid places or activities because of a potential risk, but you can't say that this is unexpected - it has been on the cards for a long time now, and some poor unfortunates were going to be the first international sports team to be affected.

Without diminishing the tragic nature of this event, or the loss of the families and individuals caught up in this event, what's occurred here is small potatoes compared to the bloodshed that is going on regularly and on an ongoing basis in Pakistan, and has been for some time. Whether or not someone is good at hitting a leather ball with a weirdly shaped bit of wood or not, whether or not anyone outside their immediate family knows their name, people being killed for some damn stupid political idea is an abomination.

Saw the headlines at work and was quite shocked, but the whole enormity of the situation didn't hit until I watched the news coverage at home. Brilliant work from the Pakistani policeman who endangered their lives to protect the Sri Lankan team and match officials as best as possible.
The policeman who passed away as a result should be awarded some posthumous medal or similar form of recognition because their actions most definitely help prevent any fatality amongst the players.
My deepest condolences go to all of their family members.

Can't see any intl cricket being played in Pakistan in the foreseeable future, highly unfortunate - but that's the way it has to be. Unfortunately it's the Pakistani cricket lovers in the forum and and all over the world who have to suffer as a result of this incident.

To Voltman and SoC - you guys are both great posters and really add value to this forum. A couple of poor comments won't change that - but if you want to avoid being hated by everyone on this thread - just apologise and those who found it offensive will slowly get over it

Peace
