Road to IPL 2009.

KKR is all style and zero substance imo, these guys had $ 2m to play with, they could have either gone for Flintoff or KP with that sort of money if one player is all what they wanted out of this auction.
But they wanted Mortaza, I think more for popularity purposes in Bangladesh.
And maybe $600,000 was worth it for them.

Flintoff or KP is a bit of overkill at the price they were going at when you already have Gayle, McCullum, Ganguly, and Ponting.

Fred is super value as he is both a reliable T20 bat as well as one of the best T20 bowlers as well.

KP is massively overrated at that price, and shows how desperate the Royal Challengers are.

I think this proves that we have the best players in the world and our world-ranking should be adjusted accordingly IIRC

I'd like to see some teams gamble with Indian domestic players. Someone like Pujara or Rahane will be very useful. I wonder what happened to that proposal of starting a new franchise.

Is Pieterson really worth 10x more than say a Ross Taylor? This seems to be a pissing competion more than anything.

Clarke should've stayed in - if Duminy is worth $950,000 there are many, many players worth a million or more including Clarke

I don't get why the clubs buy up so many players when they can only play four at a time. Seems like a massive waste when half the players are just going to be sitting on the sidelines.

Most sides used atleast 8 internationals last season due to players being injuried or playing Internationals. You need the depth until they find a window.

Many of the players are only there for half the season. Ironically, If an IPL window is created in the FTP, it would probably mean less international players getting a chance to get IPL money, as everyone would be there the full time barring injuries or benching due to form and there'd be less need for replacement. However, if such a window were created, I would not be surprised to see the maximum number of foreign players allowed from four to six or seven.
