I'm sure it's already been said but I can't be arsed wading through the posts.

Someone actually spent money on Ashraful when guys like Shakib don't even get a bid?!?

State Captain
Yeah, don't think Ashraful was bought. But I'm utterly surprised that Mortaza managed to snag 600k while nobody bought Shakib. I know Mortaza is decent, but 600,000?

Well, anyway, good for him. :p

How does this work? is there another round of bidding later on or is that it for Shakib?

Ashraful was.

I think with Mortaza, Kolkata had a lot of money to spend and they really wanted him. Whoever was bidding with Kolkata did their best to drive up the price, IMO

Anyways, good for Mortaza.

Some real steals in Mills, Taylor, Ryder etc

However the auction shows that the IPL franchises have too much money, and not enough sense.

Rajasthan with:

Graeme Smith
Justin Langer
Rob Quiney
Shane Watson
Tyron Henderson
Dimitri Mascarenhas
Shaun Tait
Morne Morkel
Shane Warne

Not sure who I'm missing there either.

He isn't going to be playing this season, is he?

I read somewhere that he would get his elbow operated once the Aussie series is over, so that would pretty much rule him out of this season' IPL.

I was just trying to put together their list of 10 contracted players. I don't know if Smith will actually play, I would imagine not actually.

KKR is all style and zero substance imo, these guys had $ 2m to play with, they could have either gone for Flintoff or KP with that sort of money if one player is all what they wanted out of this auction.

KKR has got plenty of star-power in their ranks though, just imagine McCullum and Gayle opening the batting and going ballistic.
