Pretty sure half the side will get signed up with the IPL anyway. Bird to chuck his way to a couple million.

Even when we set such a low score I was still slightly confident. Mainly due to Victoria selecting five specialist bowlers plus MacDonald. They could have played an extra batsmen or maybe two and backed Hogde to bowl some overs. Atleast when NSW don't select batsmen we select all rounders. Can't believe Mash scored a massive hundred (maybe a double) for 2nds and didn't get a game.

Didn't even notice the 6 bowlers. Bit of a dumb move.

And is this the first time this season we've only used 5 bowlers?

Yeah I know he dire at Limited Over matches. But surely playing on of the FC oriented players Jewell, Rogers, Mash or Wade would have been a better option then having a tail starting at seven with an inexperience middle order above it.

Or maybe giving a in form grade batsmen a run. Poor selection for mine and it probably cost them the game.

EDIT: On a related issue you got to have a laugh at the Vics. They have a cry when their players don't get selected for Australia. Then when they do get selected for Australia they have cry cus they can't have them for important matches during the season. You can have it boths ways. Take a punt and pick Rogers or Jewell imo. Both deserve a run in the shorter forms of game.

Should be an absolute ripping contest tonight.

Here are the squads:

VICTORIA: Brad Hodge (captain), Aiden Blizzard, Adam Crosthwaite, Aaron Finch, Shane Harwood, John Hastings, Jon Holland, Andrew McDonald, Bryce McGain, Dirk Nannes, Rob Quiney, Damien Wright, Matthew Wade (one to be omitted).

QUEENSLAND: Chris Simpson (capt), Glen Batticciotto, Ryan Broad, Lee Carseldine, Ben Cutting, Ryan Harris, Chris Hartley, Ben Laughlin, Alister McDermott, Craig Philipson, Nathan Reardon, Nathan Rimmington, Wade Townsend. (one to be omitted)

Tipping Wade to replace the unlucky Holland due to pitch conditions. Hastings to be omitted fromn the squad. While for QLD Harris in for Cutting and Townsend omitted.

Yeah should be a cracker of a game, Harris coming back into the Queensland side certainly strengthens them, whereas the Vics look too light on the batting front so surely they need to play Wade, but still tipping Hodgey to take up most of the responsibility and play a superb knock to ensure a Victorian win.

Key players for Vics: Nannes, Hodge and Harwood Qld: Reardon, Carseldine and Harris.

CA's decision not to allow the Australian squad members to play in tonight's Pro20 is high farce! The players concerned are: White, Dussey and Hopes. Are these guys, none of whom play Test cricket, at risk of burnout are they? Would have been a real shot in the arm for domestic cricket, but no, CA have to ban them....because they can.

Friday's ODI is only in Sydney for God's sake. It's not like these guys will have to drag their butts back over to Perth for the match.

A point well made imo. It seems CA hasn't adjusted to the new ODI format and still think there's a whole heap of matches with finals to make.

I apparently have a ticket to the corporate box tonight but can't get a hold of the bloke who supposedly has my ticket.

Driving me insane.

Yeah I was tossing up earlier whether to go or not.

Decided to just watch it at home. Really looking forward to the match. Hopefully QLD can negate Nannes tonight, peeling off about 30 runs for 0 wickets. Love Nannes, but not tonight.

Nah, can understand CA's point of view.
Yeah I can see where CA coming from. There a pretty big schedule coming up for the ODI/T20I players. Another five ODIs against NZ, 5 more in SA (I think), 7 in England, Twenty20 WC, re-scheduled CT, there meant to be an India series soon as well (there meant to play there every couple years as part of a TV deal) and other random series.

Add in the fact that Hopes and White would be next in line as all rounder in Tests if they keep going down that path if MacDonald gets injuried or dropped. Then Dussey would be next in line at 6 if they go for a specialist batsmen and overlook Hogde.

Queensland, one man team.

Captain Chris Simpson is also a strange cricketer for he can't bat or bowl.

By Australian spin standards, he's hardly the worst bowler around. He's certainly a bit better than Doran who Queensland played as a specialist spinner in First Class cricket for ages and ages (sometimes without even bowling him).

I think they need to realise that he's not going to score any runs, though. It's not like they need to manufacture an allrounder either - they have plenty.

Queensland have come this far in this tournament on the back of the batting of two blokes, Carseldine and Reardon, one of them has failed today and Qld already look in tatters, so its upto Hartley and Carseldine now to ensure that the Bulls reach a respectable total that would atleast give the likes of Harris, Rimmington and Co. something to defend, but can't see the Vics choking twice in a row.

Agree with what NUFAN and PEWS have said regarding Simpson, but still he is an awful choice as captain of Qld.
