Any chances of Aussies pulling of a win from here?
Not with this bowling attack.. they can't even take the 10th wicket in the first innings let alone 10 wickets in the second.. saying that I think the saffies will be playing for a draw from here so they can exploit any really negative cricket.. they have a habit of the doing that

Why au revoir Ponting? His captaincy has been a bit inadequate but he still got a ton. His bowling attack is not too flash at the moment either.
Just don't like him.. as a captain, a man or a batsman.

It's a personal thing. Can't wait for MC to step up..

Need you guys to test my logic:

Besides a slow RR due to lower-order batsman at the crease, there is never a need to declare in the 2nd innings of the game until they have a lead far enough to take 10 wickets.

This is because the runs made in the 2nd innings will have the same affect as runs made in the 4th innings... whereas teams have a reason to declare in the 3rd or 1st innings to give themselves a chance of bowling the opposition out.

So you might as well bat on in the 2nd innings so that if you have a dismal performance bowling in the 3rd, you have the benefit of runs from the 2nd, rather than having thrown away the opportunity by declaring.

Actually, the scenario I was thinking of is when a team starts to get a lead like we see here. There's no point for the Saffies to declare now, they should get more runs - and those are runs they won't have to score when the Aussies finish batting.

Pup Clarke isn't the Second Coming you know. If he was such a bright spark he would have been able to influence some of the Ponting decisions.

Lee's been off the field all day mate, he has a stress fracture in his left foot. Apparently he tried to jump over his "runs conceded" column and that's what caused his injury.
Out for the 3rd test then, I presume? Time for Bollinger or Hilfenhaus without a loss of face?

Oh. Well, an easy answer to that question then.

Probably hasn't helped the Aussie cause much then!
Stil one expects them to be good enough to knock over a few tailenders, this has been a shocking effort from Australia in both the tests now, from almost dominating positions they have thrown away the initiative, it would be a lot more bearable to see them play ****ty cricket and lose, rather than seeing them play like champions on one day and like a bunch of no-hoppers the next.

Hey did anyone see Hussye running around like an idiot and then grassing that skier?

How many times do you think they'll play that in the SA evening news? 8-)

If you don't like Ponting as a man, how can you like Michael Clarke?

Ponting the batsman is a class, class act. There's NO WAY that he should be dropped. Whether he should remain captain, that's a different question.

Because Michael Clarke is a decent intelligent bloke and RP is a brain-dead big mouthed brawler

Where is the evidence that Clarke is a superior captain anyway?
He can't do much worse.. Ponting sets fields like an U/11 second division captain would..

No hang on that's insulting all the Under 11 Second Division captains..
