Hauritz has been getting a little spin, but the most impressive thing about his bowling has been his flight and drift. He's been ecenomical and threatening at the same time. Has bowled super well.

AB might not have the fluency of those batsmen, but he is definitely a good batsman to watch.

Also has bowled a very good arm ball. One in particular, to Smith, he got to turn back a fair way.

Mate Siddle is good prospect for the future but he certainly isn't ready yet, he gets good sideways movement both off the seam and through the air and he can generate good pace too, the kind of bounce he got today was also very encouraging to see, so he has all the makings of a very good fast bowler, so its upto him to make sure he stays fit and develops his bowling nicely.

Why is this thread a lot less active than the England v South Africa one a few months ago?

Is it because Cricketweb is a very UK-heavy forum, or is cricket much bigger in England than in Australia (seems unlikely), a combination of the two, other factors?

Might be a time zone thing, with England and SA on the same zone, whereas it's middle of the night-ish in SA right now.

I won't be going to watch at the MCG in a hurry, the last 3 times the general admission seating was 4 stories up, enough to give you vertigo.

The amenities are good but unless the price for the better positioned seats comes down I won't be going.

There's heaps of general admission seats on the ground level as well. Also I was on the 4th level yesterday and it was quite good. Could see everything perfectly.

Sorry, but Mcgrath has nearly 200 dismissals that were either lbw or bowled, so if he wasnt bowling at the stumps, then umpires during his career span must have made some awfully poor decisions.

Just having a look at Mitchell's dismissal analysis, out of 72 dismissals, hes only dismissed 7 right handed batsmen either bowled or lbw, of which 2 were Chris Martin, one was RP Singh, one was Anil Kumble and one was Prasanna Jayawardhene. It seems to me that other than dismissing lower order batters, he doesnt seem to attack the stumps often enough. Id like to see him bowl from around the wicket to right handers instead of continuing with this annoying and disgraceful negative line that he continually bowls outside the off stump.

I think you are just talking on the basis of pre-set notions you have about those two, if you are actually watching the game closely you would have realised those two have been the bowlers who have troubled the batsmen the most.

Hauritz has flighted the ball impressively, well compared to his last international stint where he was rubbish in every regard. However, Ive seen little drift, and a bowler that bowls at 50 mph without getting the ball to deviate should really be taken apart by this point. Is he really a better bowler than Symonds considering that both of them have stock balls that go straight on?

Symonds knee is no good so Hauritz is the only straight-break bowler we have
