I don't think so. We'd see an ad break after every ball, a break for drinks midway through the over, and a lot of ties, and so every 1:1 game would have to be followed by a 0.1:0.1 to break the ties. With typical beuraucratic efficiency, they would take half an hour to organise the 0.1:0.1's.
ohh lookee here -another holier than thou pretentious smug cricket "fan"-havent met those enough-keep it up .i bet you didnt even watch the match.if you hate it so much stop commenting on it.

yeah the sun was still out and only just set when they started. Would've been no problems whatsoever

Also: from the glimpses I saw of the speeds, Southee was pumping it very high-130s? Is that usual?

Noticed that there's no real posts about the team selection.

What do you kiwi posters feel about the team selected yesterday? I was shocked that they batted Flynn down at 7, and played Franklin as a specialist batsman.

Surely with all these bowling options: Ryder, Styris, Oram, Franklin, Mills, Vettori, Southee, Patel we can afford to play more specialist batsmen in place of one or two of the specialist bowlers? Styris' bowling has always been pretty good, and Ryder can throw in some overs. I tend to think in ODIs in New Zealand that you could even count on 10 overs from Styris and Ryder.

My team would be something along the lines of:

McCullum
Ryder
How
Taylor
Flynn
Styris
Oram
Elliott
Vettori
Mills
Patel

Very strong batting wise, but still leaves you 7 bowling options.

Oh dear, and I read this:

New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris will be out for six weeks after suffering a broken thumb. :(

I nominate Flynn to take his place in the batting order. Seriously, batting Flynn so low down the order is a waste if you are going to have him in the side.

Shame for the pig, looked half-decent in the 20/20 too, aside from that horrendous shot to get him dismissed

I would like Thompson to be given a go instead of Franklin for the game tomorrow afternoon, as it appears Franklin isn't contributing much and Thompson with his Left Arm variation could be a great addition for the team and we wouldn't lose much with the bat either.

I do know that Franklin is a Left Armer, but he doesn't seem to be being utilised for his bowling (possibly because he is still working his way back from injury), but if Thompson is selected, we would be more likely to see him bowl.

Hope that team doesnt get picked. Who would open the bowling with Mills?. Oram, I guess who is only half fit. Then our third seamer would be Elliott, Styris, or Ryder. That would be the friendliest bowling attack in the world. That wouldnt even be a provincial attack, I dont think.

Options are great but that has to be balanced out with the quality of the bowling. Cant just have 10 dinky little part timers in there. Someone has to take wickets.
For me, Southee has to play. Maybe Martin or Obrien as well.

How's form has been rough of late and I dont think he is that great a one day player anyway. For mine, Flynn or Taylor should take his place at 3.Elliott is handy but vying for the same place as Oram in the team.

Agree with the above that Styris' time may have come.

Ryder
McCullum
Flynn
Taylor
Williamson, Anderson, Broom
Williamson, Anderson, Broom
Oram
Vettori
Mills
Southee
OBrien/Martin.

imo.
