Kind of screws our Cricket Web Stats Spider with Twenty20's now having the possibility of two innings

Full credit to the West Indies who deserved their win but what was with the NZ team selected. What is Franklin doing playing as a specialist batsman and Flynn batting at number 7?

Thought the tiebreaker over was a joke even by T20 standards, tbh. The bowl-out was a much simpler solution.

They're both stupid tbh, but at least the super over involves skills and aspects of the game that are actually involved in cricket.
Never in the game does a bowler bowl at stumps without a batsman.
The fact that India used players like Uthappa to win their bowl out vs. Pakistan in the 07 Twenty20 World Cup shows how ridiculous that was.

I love how cricket is trying to speed up to light-speed levels yet the time between the last ball of the Twenty20 and the start of the tie-breaker must have been a good 10-15 minutes.

Agree with you totally. I wondered what was going on. Seemed to me that those whole 2 overs took about 45 minutes to setup and play.
Don't see what's wrong with just a tie personally.

True, but it was much simpler than this convoluted exercise of one bowler dismissing an entire side by picking up two wickets. Two wickets, all out.
That's not a valid argument at all. If Ashish Nehra hits a six to win an ODI in which Tendulkar scores a duck, does that make it a ridiculous game?

the crowd was awesome today, was anyone in the terraces? i loved the inflatable santa haha at times the drama took over and i completely forgot about the cricket.
mccullum looked superb... and then got out again. the crowd heard the ball smack off his bat and went "ooooh!" then "aww..." when we realised two metre sullie had caught it; taylor was excellent, as was gayle: the two hit some huge shots

Nah mate, wasn't watching it. I wasn't even aware it was on until I noticed this thread keep getting bumped up. Caught the last 2 overs on cricinfo, and then the eliminator overs. It was exciting following the game at the finish upto the tie. Then Gayle hit those boundaries in the WI's tiebreaker over and the result was an anti-climax. I reckon the crowd would have been happier walking out of the ground after the a thrilling tie than seeing one guy get two lives in the same game.You were watching the game? On which channel?

I don't think so. We'd see an ad break after every ball, a break for drinks midway through the over, and a lot of ties, and so every 1:1 game would have to be followed by a 0.1:0.1 to break the ties. With typical beuraucratic efficiency, they would take half an hour to organise the 0.1:0.1's.The 1:1 WC could be done in a day, sounds promising to me!
