And what else?

Not much. Far too much is made of that innings, which was a young man on debut throwing caution to the wind when his team had all but lost the match. It's a far cry from any significant match situation.
Considering its a 20/20 and in the last few overs like I said, I think it would be ok for him to come in and play like that.:p

He also has a few innings where he has came in an hit a few Sixes. He has the potential to come in a bash the ball around a bit. It just depends if you want to risk it or not.

You're missing my point. My point is that there are many players who could produce an innings like that when there's nothing at stake.

And regardless of what form of the game, unless NZ have already scored 250 or are sure to lose (which you never are in T20) when he enters, there is pressure. It is not the same thing. Something is at stake.

Not many though, given that he's hit a total of 5 sixes in 13 other international innings.

Yeah, those posts were terrible and the rant was apt; just a little misplaced. Save it to your hard-drive and post it next time Mills has a less-than-brilliant game and Matt calls for his head again.
TBF Ive only called for his head in test matches. I dont think Ive ever said he should be dropped from the one day team. My preferred team a few pages ago had him in there. Im not anti Mills at all. I think hes a good one day player, but just an average test player.

Seriously, I know you have an immense speed bias but...seriously.

.
I dont understand why everyone else doesnt. Ive always considered pace just another weapon of bolwers. You can swing the ball, seam the ball, or bowl fast and thats another way of getting the batsman out. Beating them for pace. Making them play a shot but not quite be there in time.

Saying pace doesnt matter is like saying swing doesnt matter, or seaming the ball doesnt matter. :)

also, IMO, pace makes everything else a bit more effective. Swinging the ball at 140kph is going to be more effective than swinging it at 125kph. As with seaming the ball.

Thats not to say a faster bowler is better, or you need someone at 150kph. I just think 135-140 is a good pace for test bowlers and if NZ doesnt have that extra weapon then we are lacking something in our bowling. My comments about speed were regarding the last test match where both our opening bowlers were around 125kph. That was too slow IMO. Thats Nathan Astle pace.

Found it very hard to stop watching the South Africa/Aussie match to watch this.

Better be a good match:@

Overkill on the selection of bowlers for this match from NZ, surely. Franklin didn't bowl at all in the first game and they've now replaced an injured specialist batsman with yet another bowling allrounder.

Haha. What a woeful innings of cricket.

Chanderpaul and Xavier Marshall apart, the fielding was pretty damn atrocious.

Ryder and McCullum only scored as many as they did thanks to that poor fielding. Then some incredibly brainless batting from the middle order again.

And Ewan Thompson! I've heard of backing up, but that is a deadset joke. I was rooting for Taylor to run the **** out. That is horrible.
