I can't believe I ate the whole thing
it's just funny how different players cope, ponting's made more runs as captain than not as captain, i feel kp will do the same
Some players thrive with the added responsibility, expectations and scrutiny, some don't. Doesn't make them a good captain, though. You actually need to be skilled enough in knowing the right tactics, how to set a field, how to handle players and knowing who to bowl and when. Simply making runs doesn't make you a good captain.

Often? Hardly.
It's not a fair comment at all. I thought India batted better then Aus but we really only batted crap in one match in Mohali. In the first and third matches we batted well and in the final innings of the tour we had no choice but to go for it. Hardly batted like crap often.
As a complete batting line-up that's true, and the term 'crap' was probably harsh, but when you look down at the individual batting records from 1-8, its hardly impressive considering how flat the tracks were right?

I must admit I much prefer cricket when the bowling is on top, and making runs is hard work, this has been a very good game:)

agreed, unfortunately only a couple of batsmen have been able to tough it out in this test match, don't think we'll see jaques back for a while, tough break, hasn't done a lot wrong

No big surprise with the last couple of sessions I guess. Jamie How might be starting to look over his shoulder. I don't think he's made a 50 since the first innings of the second test against England, and since that time he's looked very ordinary.

Redmond didn't so much shoot himself in the foot as in the face. Bizarre way to get out and really indicative of the fact that he's just not up to it.

Ryder is not a number 3.

Taylor batted well, though he was (as he needs to be in order to get runs) very lucky to survive, not just from the caught behind appeal, but half a dozen other plays and misses during his innings, from attempted drives.

McCullum is not a number 5, and his dismissal was so predictable, it was almost like watching Matthew Bell again. I really couldn't believe that he was sent in to bat there again, my poor television coped quite a verbal serve when he walked out after Ryder's wicket. On his current form, he'd struggle to make number 7.

Flynn was good, but slightly disapointing in the last half hour, when he seemed to lose his composure and started playing and missing a lot more. Also seemed completely incapable of playing Johnson when he swung the ball into him, which is a bit of a worry. But he also played some nice shots so I'll give him a pass.

Elliot should not be playing.

There! Hugely gauling that we let Australia get 300+, especially with Ryder dropping Katich. I knew our fielding would show its shoddiness eventually. If we were 180/6 at stumps chasing 250, I'd give us an outside chance to get it done. Instead poor selections and a bit of poor catching have cost us a precious opportunity to get one up on the aussies.

Really hope Taylor gets his hundred tomorrow, and that we at least put up a respectable fight.

Didn't say it was impressive.

conditions like this is what test cricket is all about, varying pitches, sorting out the men from the boys, performances like clarke and katich is how it should be toughed out, batsmen have had it easy the world round for years with 'generic' pitches, i personally am loving the contest, CA will probably launch an investigation due to lost revenue however
I wasn't saying it was a bad thing...
