They both need to. A hundred run partnership between these two should be the first priority to tick off on the checklist.

19yr old, hot Queensland days. I'd give him a break.
So at what age are you expected to be fit?

Fair enough, if it's humid and hot then you'd expect him to tire at the end of an innings, but I assumed he was down on pace from the start given the poster's comment. I may have assumed wrong...

they lost 2-0, one of the draws they weren't the best team, and most of their batsmen were below career average, so i'd say that was a fair comment
It's not a fair comment at all. I thought India batted better then Aus but we really only batted crap in one match in Mohali. In the first and third matches we batted well and in the final innings of the tour we had no choice but to go for it. Hardly batted like crap often.

He and Ryder are both carrying a lot of "condition"

Aus, bar Katich and Hussey, were very ordinary in India against a pretty average attack

What overreaction though? Australia batted crap in the first innings, just like they did often in India. I don't think anyone here was proclaiming a NZ win? They just suggested the possibility of it.
There was a bit in the wicket though...and some comments were a bit silly given the state of the deck and the match. It was as if everything was normal and we simply batted poorly. There's a difference between India, where we've struggled at the best of times, and the Gabba on a wicket that lacked a little preparation. As I said before, Vettori bowled for a reason, and I suspect he would have been bitterly disappointed if Australia got 300+ in the first innings which sums things up really. NZ did well to utilise the conditions, and batting wasn't ridiculously easy.

Obviously we were below par and it was disappointing at times with what's expected from this Australian batting side, but we didn't bat crap often. Aside from Mohali there was nothing that terrible although obviously in a country like India not being crap isn't good enough.

i was more pointing to his inexperience at bowling as much as he is now at this level, give him time to improve his strength and stamina, there's not a lot of cricket in nz, international or domestic

so because they made a couple of good scores they batted ok ? they lost the series because their batsmen were below par, which for the best team in the world, with the best batsmen in the world, is very poor, not to mention not bowling well enough, but that's another story

Pretty sure it was the ineffective bowling that was the main reason behind Australia losing in India.

Back for the Tea Break.
We need to go to stumps with both Ryder and Taylor still there. At the very least only one of them gone, but hopefully none of them. If both of them go, Australia should win comfortably.
