Is this first time in history that a county team faces off it's own home national team in a match?
Hmm. This IS a club match isnt it?In the early days of cricket in England there were lots of games along the lines of "Kent v All England". A bit before even my time though.
Same like the Irani Trophy in India, where the domestic champions face off against the Rest.Champion County v The Rest was played for years at the end of the season - a great loss to the fixture list in my opinion
Yeah, Owais Shah of Middx is in the England squad iirc. But here England is a truly national team right? It is not composed of guys who do not play for Middlesex, right?
Also, the England WC squad of 1999 played a couple of warm-up matches against counties - Kent and Essex IIRC. They didn't have any official status of course, but then I don't think this does either. Is this first time in history that a county team faces off it's own home national team in a match?
That was in the 18th and 19th centuries, so as there was no international cricket or even an organised county championship yet, everything was a club match.Hmm. This IS a club match isnt it?
Carries the same status as the Twenty20 Cup and IPL games. They didn't have any official status of course, but then I don't think this does either.
Does it? I thought due to that spat between the sponsors, this tournament was stripped of "official" status and is like the ICL.Carries the same status as the Twenty20 Cup and IPL games.
Loan.Hmmm ... so it does. Carter making his 50th T20 appearance I see. Has he actually signed for Middlesex, or is he just being borrowed for this competition?
I think it could only be stripped of official Twenty20 International status (as the contracts only governed that format). The statisticians at CricketArchive and Cricinfo say it's still on a par with domestic Twenty20.Does it? Alright thenLoan.

Somewhat bizarrely.
There was also Hampshire vs England at The Rose Bowl in 2005. I know, as I and my namesake were there. Also, the England WC squad of 1999 played a couple of warm-up matches against counties - Kent and Essex IIRC. They didn't have any official status of course, but then I don't think this does either.
