A match memorable only for the worst dropped catch I have ever seen in my entire life, in any form of cricket, Andrew Strauss being the culprit.

Not a great pitch for T20 cricket.

Pretty much. I have seen worse, but those guilty were aged 10 and 11, so I'll avoid naming and shaming.

I didn't watch the catch, obviously, but I can't believe it'll have been any worse than Graham Thorpe's off Sanjay Bangar from Richard Dawson's bowling at Mohali in 2001/02. As bad, possibly, but worse, no.

Who was the South African who spilled an absolute sitter at mid-on during one of the ODIs in England? It was that bad, perhaps even easier.

Aha, that. Welllllllll, actually I was in Wales visiting family for that match, and though I watched the denounement of the game in a local pub, I never actually saw the famed catch.

I can't believe anything at mid-on could be as easy as a leading-edge off a 50mph fingerspinner to a relatively close-in cover-point though. Thorpe's must surely have been easier.

Yes well, same for both sides isn't it. Lights are on from the start as far as I can tell.

Match on tonight is there? Been a bit quiet without even a Bangladesh - NZ Test to talk about.

No, I have seen both and Strauss's was worst. Just the worst you will ever see in top level cricket.
You saw that Thorpe drop in 2001/02?

I've honestly never come accross anyone else who remembers it, never mind an 8-year-old who'd have been up at 5AM to watch the cricket.

Perhaps he just meant the Strauss and Philander efforts?

I don't remember the Thorpe chance, but then I didn't have Sky in those days.

I see that the losers get to share $100000 in this match, not a bad week's work for Middlesex even if they lose really.

Yeah, its a nice jolly boys outing.

I like that the county boys get a bit of a pay day, a high profile game or 2 and a week in the sun.

if only...

if only the pitches were of better quality this might have been worth watching. but as far as im concerned they did not pull this off. the quality of cricket as been substandard and the catching worst than village cricket. and those bloody black bats!!!! it looks cheap. this tournament will be an epic fail and soon to be forgotten. i wonder if they can somehow imporve the quality of the pitch for the england vs SS match on the 21st. that to me is what ruined this tournament.

Been a great bowling performance from T&T. Middlesex currently 77/6 off 16.4. Only Strauss (20) & Morgan (30) have made any kind of scores.

Slow bowlers the key again.
