It is more my surprise at how much Dhoni's move has been lauded that I was trying to express. On top of that they went ahead and gave him the man of the match award. If it had to be a batsman, why not Gambhir, he set it up in both innings. Both his two innings were more important in context.

Of course, I would have preferred it to be one of the bowlers.

Honestly, one of the worst received victories ever by the Indian supporters on here. Huge credit to those like Prats, SJSers and Sangrah for rising above it.

Yes and thats why he is still one of the best in the world. Yet I maintain he peaked a while ago, that doesn't mean his batting is all of a sudden going to become so much worse. Just the marker of where his youth and his cricketing ability came to their highest possible point.

That is fair enough. It is highly subjective what one thinks is the best phase of a player's career. I can't decide between the young phase (when he had glorious stats) and the current phase because Tendulkar looks a solid player looking to score big runs now to me. Whether his current phase will be less, equal or greater than his 90s phase, only time can tell for me.

The vast majority of the Australian media has been extremely complimentary towards the Indian team and its victory

How is that? A right hander (Sehwag) got out and another right hander (Dhoni) came in. To the best of my knowledge Sachin still bats right handed. Why couldn't he have come in place of Dhoni ?

To my knowledge Sachin bats awfully good left handed as well. I have seen him once at the BCCI bat left handed for some reason.

I don't really want to rip into Marsh too much as I actually rate him as someone with great potential and quite a good technique, but there's no need at all to pick someone like him when we have blokes like Hodge and Dave Hussey around.

All that's irrefutable really. Chances are he won't get a game so I hope it's just a "for the experience" type of call up.

Mike Hussey can though, and Marsh has only been opening for about a season himself.
